Bus ide muy lento

Buenas,
hace pocos días me han cambiado mi placa base asus a7v880, el problema q tengo ahora es el siguiente:
hd 120GB (wd 7200rpm ata100 2mb) conectado al primary master -> rendimiento nefasto (4mbps)
lo cambio al secondary master -> va de perlas (45mbps)las medidas de mbps son del sandra -> file system benchmark, manteniendo el mismo cable ide y con el windows sin hacer nada.
algun posible motivo, a parte de placa base chunga?
pd: tengo q hacer pruebas con un hd sata recientemente adquirido.
