Problema bateria en xp

Hola tengo un problema y es que el portatil cuando le quito la corriente y esta con la bateria rinde mucho menos y se pone al minimo de consumo, y no hay forma de ponerlo para que rinda al maximo o que rinda algo mas, se puede cambiar el rendimiento d alguna forma?yo uso el powe gear
