Problema tras recompilar Kernel

Acabo de recompilar el kernel de la manera habituial (kernel completo). Cuando lo compilaba puse las opciones correctas y no salio ningun mensaje de error en ningun momento.
Configuré el LILO para que arrankase el nuevo nucleo, pero cuando arranca arranca perfectamente en modo texto. Cuando pongo el comando "startx" no arranca el modo grafico. Me pone nosequé problemas de las resoluciones y frecuencias del monitor.
¿alguien sabe algo?

/etc/X11/X86Config , fijate que tenes bien configurado el device de la placa, y resoluciones soportadas….
eso es para slackware, pero teoricamente tendria ke funcar con un par mas de distros
