For those of you who want to join H2M:
As a summary, and as a warning for those who manage to get in, I can tell you what has happened in the last few weeks in Hard2mano (H2M), but first I have to give you some background:
The forum was created in 2005, due to the closure of the N3D marketplace, Xunix (current administrator of H2M) and many other forum members started a new project, in which it has always been "sold" that it was a project of everyone and it was a forum of the forum members. The great work of Xunix at that time, accompanied by that of many others (I don't mention names because the list is too long) made H2M one of the best forums for buying and selling, with a low level of scams and an excellent internal atmosphere.
A couple of weeks ago, the forum administrator (Xunix) unilaterally and with a single stroke dismissed all active moderators, most of whom had been in H2M since the beginning, and replaced them with others. This made an important part of the forum to reproach him and ask for explanations. All this is much longer than what I am going to explain below, but I have to summarize the important points.
The first thing they asked him was to say if the forum was his (owned) or of all forum members, as we had always believed,
This question was due to the fact that Xunix was acting unilaterally and no one understood very well how he could do so in such a dictatorial way, to which he replied:
"it can be said that the forum is of everyone and of no one at the same time" (a cowardly answer, all told)Faced with this scenario in which Xunix always evades the issue, with evasions and without giving concrete answers, and seeing that the forum members did not accept such explanations and that we wanted the truth, when he felt pressured, he opened a thread, in which it was decided that all "controversial" threads would be closed and ELIMINATED, yes... I have written ELIMINATED!!, from the view of the rest of the forum members.
In addition, he literally says the following:
“will not allow any topic to be initiated or any comment to be published that deals with, or may lead to, the resurgence of any of the controversies of the past days”
From here, a thread that was opened that, according to the staff's criteria, was harmful to their interests... I mean, to the interests of H2M, was directly eliminated.
Such is the level of censorship that they eliminate signatures that they don't like, from some forum members, for having certain web pages linked, when the rules clearly state today “It is not considered spam to have a web page reflected in the profile or in the signature”And some of you will ask:
-If that is happening in H2M, why don't you just leave there and that's it?
Answer: because I consider that H2M is not Xunix's forum and he himself has not had enough courage to say that the forum is his (I suppose out of personal shame... but it's just a guess), therefore what I want is not to leave H2M, but what I would like is for Xunix to leave the position to a person who returns freedom of expression (among other things) to H2M.-And why are you coming here to tell us this?
Because I can't tell you when you enter the forum since the thread would be fulminated in a matter of seconds and part of H2M who hasn't realized anything will be able to read it here now and those of you who want to enter, have the right to be informed.-Then, isn't it worth entering to be part of the Hard2Mano community?
The forum is still the safest place to buy and sell, and it has quite a lot of supply and demand for "merchandise" so it is still recommended for any self-respecting "junk collector". But we forum members want something more, something we already had and that we have lost... we want OUR forum.
P.D. That is... for any nonsense, they take a poll to find out what the forum members want to doregards

I am a user (not too frequent) of H2M and I knew nothing about this. I am not going to get into the controversy. I just hope that whatever is changing within the work, does not modify what is still the forum.

The forum is always modified, for better or for worse (time will tell)
Many users no longer participate in the forum voluntarily because of what happened, most are important users, the ones who give life to the forum and that is what H2M has lost so far.
I have not been banned yet, but let's see how long it takes, since they do not accept the slightest criticism.
And there is much, much more to expose, the debate threads that have been eliminated could have easily had 500 interventions... but I don't want to put you to sleep... it's early

I already found out about that case and it really made me feel sorry for some moderators, to be honest, I still have my account and it works well, I also registered on the new forum created secretsocket, which was created as a result of this, and I hope it lasts a long time and brings the good things that h2m had.
Greetings lobisman.

Hi Tecnho,
The thing about SS, it's not exactly like that, it was created before all the fuss, but I didn't want to mention it in this thread for two reasons:
-not to spam :rollani:
-And because this is an initiative of lobisman (and no one else), who has been silenced time and time again on H2M and has to express himself in exile.Don't be fooled by my 16 messages, I am (and used to be much more) a forum user who reads a lot and writes little, but I have learned a lot from hardlimit and much of the knowledge I have today has come from here.
Although it's true that for a while now I have been much more linked to other forums.
In fact I know that you shouldn't send an F55 to be repaired abroad….:pregards

I always say that if you don't like a forum, you leave and that's it, that is, the forum belongs to its owner, so if he wants to do something that displeases his users, he has the right to do so, just like the users have the right to leave.

I completely agree with you, but… who does H2M belong to?
Because Xunix himself says..." The forum belongs to everyone and no one at the same time" :|¿?¿?¿?¿?¿:nono:
If he tells me PUBLICLY that the forum belongs to him.... goodbye Lucas, if I have seen you, I don't remember.

I'm currently managing to sell to colleagues. I don't like to force the hardware (I do OC, but with relaxed temps and voltages) and that's why I buy little second-hand, but I wouldn't mind entering H2M. This of course wouldn't apply to cases and heatsinks, there I could find something interesting :sisi:
I think it's a shame that a forum with a good-natured address can suddenly become despotic, but the truth is that I already visit too many forums and moderate in one of them, if I entered H2M it would be for buying and selling and little more.
Best regards.

Well yes, the truth is that it's a shame about everything that happened in H2M, but all the fuss that Lobisman talks about is true. I didn't realize it until a friend who is one of the most affected by this issue told me, so I also registered in the new forum, but without leaving H2M, because after all my participation has been quite limited except for buying and selling. As for the topic started by RaY4cK, I only invite people who have reached the rank of'veteran' in HardLimit, and as we all know it is awarded by the other veterans, moderators and admins. This is because one of the advantages of these forums for buying/selling is that in the vast majority of cases you can trust people and we avoid scams or bad vibes, although someone may fall. -
Hello, first of all, my apologies for reviving this thread, I have been a user of noticias3D for years and have been recommended by many colleagues from there, the fact is that I was looking for information about hard2mano and I came across this…
I am not going to ask for an invitation, I am clear that today it is like winning the lottery, but I have read that an alternative forum (secretsocket) was created in which, coincidentally, I am registered, and to be frank, I don't know what the hard2mano forum will be like, but certainly secretsocket in terms of activity, today, leaves much to be desired...
This thread is old and of course things may have changed a lot since the project started, that's why, to those who know more about said forum, I would like to ask if they finally consider that the project was what they expected, or on the contrary it has been a failure, since it is a fairly small forum, and coincidentally registration today is still free (so it does not offer the level of security and statistics of hard2mano), mostly because I have been looking for EONS for a forum specialized in buying and selling hardware, and I can't find any (where I can sell the most is in forocoches, what irony...).
On the other hand, the rules of this forum refer to not selling anything outside the buy-sell section, but coincidentally I have not seen said section anywhere xD, did it happen as with N3D and said section was eradicated?
regards to all, many will recognize me from noticias3D.

Welcome.
SecretSocket was born as a result of some disagreements between some users of H2M and its staff.
Personally, I am a user of both and it is true that SecretSocket does not have much activity, but the people who participate are almost the same as those who also do so in H2M. I do not know if this can serve to calm you down or not.
To avoid problems and bad vibes, the buy-sell section of this forum is private. Only veteran users can view and participate. The purpose of this forum is not the buying and selling of hardware, but to exchange information and knowledge about it.
Best regards

Man, to be honest, in terms of activity, it's clear that SecretSocket has a long way to go to have the movement of H2M, and it's much more complicated to get a sale, but we, the users, are the ones who can make a forum better or worse, by giving it content and good vibes, by making other people know it, by using it for buying/selling at the same level as others, etc...For my part, I try to participate a little in both, apart from sales, but of course, you can't be everywhere, and interests and the economy change. Besides, I'm clear that if I were to give everything for a community, it would be this one

Edit:
By the way, I could recommend other websites like Meristation and Elotrolado.net (EOL) for selling. I was registered on Meristation but deleted my account, and on EOL I'm registered with another nickname, although there I frequent the subforums dedicated to retro.
On EOL you can enter buying/selling after reaching a minimum number of messages, and once you reach it, you are asked to participate in more sections, because if you don't, you can be banned for abuse of buying/selling. You also have a transaction statistic, and everything is quite controlled (which I personally like).

Thanks for the recommendations, I will take them into account.
