        @CNCBCN:

as they rightly say: better to save up and upgrade your equipment starting with the foundations (not the roof) although your motherboard supports a "decent" graphics card, the bottleneck would not be very advisable :nono: you can look for something second-hand (micro or similar) to make it cheaper but start by upgrading the motherboard and everything that entails
        regards and welcome

Let's say I change, in addition to the graphics card and the power supply, the motherboard; which one do you recommend based on that graphics card? The processor and the memory would be something to look at later... I just want to be able to enjoy some games that I now have to watch trailers for and bite my nails...

Edit: although a 6870 and a certain budget have been mentioned, due to the bottleneck effect that the processor would cause, I wouldn't mind, of course, going for cheaper models. I just want to ensure acceptable (decent) performance in games like the ones I referred to.

bread for today hunger for tomorrow :nono:
if you want to waste money we can continue talking, if not it's not worth continuing down this path.

when we say that you update "motherboard" we mean that if or if it's motherboard memory and micro. Wanting to update only the motherboard is unthinkable. I imagine that your memory is at 800 +/- ¿no? No current motherboard works with that (and the micro less)
your order would be: 1st or 2nd power supply 2nd or 1st motherboard, micro, memory 3rd graphics and variable order the hard drive. About that we can talk about new components or second-hand but little more
P.D. I haven't tested the mafia, but Crysis asks for "a lot of PC" for 60/80 euros they sold a graphics card like mine over the network (but I doubt it's a good buy (there are new ones, a little more expensive but better))

so your motherboard is this one? never mind, they have the same components

well, let's get to the point, you can buy this graphics card, it's pretty good and it's very cheap

            Sapphire Radeon HD 6850 1GB GDDR5 - 112 euros

and a decent power supply, EG: NOX NX Series 620W 47 euros - OCZ StealthXStream II 600W - 64 euros

it will be enough and it won't cost you too much

            regards

Well, I expected a worse micro and 2GB of RAM ?

The 6850 has dropped a bit, good price :sisi:

A pity I didn't see your recommendation, ferelxyx. In the end I got a 600W power supply for the same price as the one you mentioned, but from the brand Thermaltake (Thermaltake LitePower 600W W0355RE Power Supply).

And I've lowered the graphics card level a bit. I went for the HD 6770, also with 1GB DDR5 (Sapphire Radeon HD 6770 1GB GDDR5 + Dirt3 11189-00-20G Graphics Card).

                @Obione:

The 6850 has gone down a bit, good price :sisi:

It has gone down because if you look it says "Refurbished", that is, it came out damaged and was repaired (and tested)… that's why they sell it cheaper.

Thanks to everyone for your help. Regarding the change of the rest of the PC... I would appreciate it if you could recommend a combination of micro + cooler + motherboard + memory. With a view to December I can try to change those components; and if not, a little later, but I will change them. And while we're at it, what's left, a new tower.

                Thanks again. Regards.

Have you lowered the graphics level a bit? The 6770 performs better than the 6850 ?

Come on, not even the 6790 pulls more than the 6850.

UY UY, refurbished no because the warranty is very thin :nono:

I take back, you're right Obione

256 -bit GDDR5 in the 6850 compared to 128 -bit GDDR5 in the 6770, which offsets the higher clock frequency.

And certainly you have to move away from that refurbished 6850, they are long-term problems...

Regarding the board + micro + memories it would be a good option an ASRock P67, with an i5 2500K if you're going to overclock, and memories some G.Skill Ripjaws 2x2 Gb
You would get everything for about 290 € approximately + 36€ of the heatsink, a Scythe Ninja 3.
If you don't want such a leap in quality and need to save money at the expense of something more modest, you can put an Asus P8H61 with an i3 2100 and the same memories, you would get everything for 190€ more or less + 26€ of the heatsink, a Scythe Shuriken in this case.

                      Regards

Thanks for the advice. I'll take note. Any more opinions on these components? A middle ground between those two prices that Sylver proposed is fine.

If you want a computer for a while and with good performance, a 2500k with a decent p67 motherboard like that asrock or an asus p8p67 would be great. The memory is also good, both the gskill and the corsair vegeance are very good and have almost the same price if you buy it now. Now, if your PC lasts until Christmas, we should have news about AMD's new bulldozers and maybe they will be good and in that case, a possible price drop and the ability to choose between one of the 2 brands.

Good point; I hope the prices drop as you predict. I've read that they are coming out this month, am I right? (8 cores, what a madness for those who are still using 2… :frio:)

Damn Christmas, I hope it arrives sooner and look, with a Sandy I care a lot less but the one who wants to jump from platform and hasn't gone for a Sandy is pulling his hair out with every delay of the Bulldozer : little laughs:

I would love it if AMD gave a big hit with what is a big change in architecture, we'll see how they come out but well, in your case, these new micros don't seem especially interesting to me for gaming because the design of the games appreciates real cores, neither Hyper-Threadings nor Bulldozer modules.

Lo interesante es la bajada de precios que suponga el lanzamiento de ambas arquitecturas en los productos actuales, lo más rentable para muchos será aprovecharse de esa rebaja y cambiar de plataforma. (me incluyo :p)
No todos podemos invertir directamente en lo nuevo, el tiempo nos marcará los cambios de plataforma.
