well I didn't know about the reference in the ram, thanks a lot for the info :D. I was wondering if I had to do something because I read some posts around here and I read something about the bios and stuff but I already said that I don't have much idea about the topic that's why I was asking mostly ?

thanks a lot for the help ? bye

That happens sometimes, when you buy memories with different references and those small incompatibilities and stories come up, which is when the system doesn't detect some module, or detects less capacity, some percentage, etc… and it's usually recommended to check in the BIOS that the dual channel is activated and parameters of that type, but to avoid conflicts the best thing is what they recommend, that the reference is the same and preferably that all the modules are of the same capacity, that will save you complications.

hello everyone, here we are again with a small question. I bought a pack of 2x4gb each, I have put them in but it only recognizes 4gb. I have put them in the same place where I had the others, removed some and put others but it does not recognize anything more than 1, or at least that's what it says in Everest.

the thing is that it gives me the feeling that only with the one it recognizes it goes much faster than with the others xD. I say that I have tried to enter the bios to see if it saw anything about the ram but I do not see anything strange, rather, as I do not have a clue about bios I do not see anything strange xD

            regards

                win7 64 bits ultimate

Edit: I just downloaded the cpu-z program, since I saw it in some post around here ? and in the memory tab it seems to recognize the 8gb

                it says the following

                Type DDR3 size 8192 mbytes
channels dual (in dc mode nothing comes up) and in nib frequency 2140 mhz

it is confirmed that everest is not good for these things?:P greetings

It's not that Everest is bad, it's more about Windows, which is the one that particularly doesn't recognize all the memory many times.

Run the msinfo32 command and you will see how much memory the system recognizes. Now, on the other hand, it's getting cooler but the value ram doesn't have heatsinks, forget about overclocking because they overheat if they suffer continuous stress and end up giving errors or breaking. If it doesn't recognize all the ram memory, you must also make sure that they are the same model, frequency, timings, etc. because it is possible in this last case a compatibility problem and windows is very sensitive to these issues.

Both memories are the same, same model, same everything ? it's a pack of 2x4gb and following the msinfo32 it shows me the same 8gb of physical memory installed, total physical memory 3.99, physical memory available 2.40, total virtual memory 7.98, virtual memory available 6.06

Well it recognizes 8 but only uses 4. I guess the motherboard is not the problem (with a core i5, motherboards usually accept up to 12,16,32 in their most modern versions) possibly it's a bios problem? have you passed the memory test when booting the pc? in the bios it also recognizes the 8Gb have you installed the chipset drivers? the memory slots should be fine. Are the memories configured in auto? try to set the values recommended by the manufacturer from the bios (frequency and timings) to see if you can solve it this way (if you haven't already) also try to install the latest version of the bios. Do you use the channels for dual channel? put each module in its corresponding channel (A1B1A2B2) for example one in A1 and another in A2 let us know.

the memories are put in A1 and A2 from the beginning, (I suppose that A1 and A2 refer to the first and third slots) I put them in the same place where I had the others. when I went into the bios shortly after putting them in I didn't see anything strange, in fact, I didn't touch the bios at all. I think I remember that everything is in auto since, as I say, touching the bios scares me, and more without knowing :S.

The point is, to give an example, in battlefield 3 I can play the campaign mode without waiting practically anything between loading screens, it starts much faster than before, in fact, to play over the internet it was impossible for me before, now it goes very well and without problems of map loading or anything...

I suppose that there will be some kind of manual about the bios, that if I'm honest, I haven't looked at it but I'm going to have to learn a little bit of this so as not to give you the hassle that I'm giving you as a new registrant here :P. I'll look at the memory in the bios but I say that I didn't touch anything at all.

regards and forgive me for the long post

I just looked at the bios a little while ago and in system memory it shows usable size 4088 mb. There is another thing that said pci mmio allocation 4gb to 2048 mb

The rest is all set to auto, as I mentioned before.

Edit: a question, don't the graphics have anything to do with all this, right? I have 2 ati radeon hd 5700, I put it more than anything just in case

Anyway, as you have been told before, try loading the devices just a graphics card a hard drive, etc and start the pc. On the other hand, in the ram parameters put it in manual and adjust the frequency according to what is established by the manufacturer (I understand that the motherboard chipset will accept that frequency 1333Mhz) along with the first four timming. And run msinfo32 to see if now it uses the eight Gb of ram. You will tell us.
