Hello everyone, I would like some advice on what motherboard I could buy based on what I currently have installed in my computer since I want to modify it little by little and I want to start with the motherboard, if it is advisable to start with that of course ?

This is the computer I currently have
      CPU Type QuadCore Intel Core i5 750, 3715 MHz (19 x 196)
      Motherboard Asus P7P55D (3 PCI, 2 PCI-E x1, 2 PCI-E x16, 4 DDR3 DIMM, Audio, Gigabit LAN, IEEE-1394)
Chipset Intel Ibex Peak P55, Intel Lynnfield
DIMM1: G Skill F3-12800CL9-4GBXL 4 GB DDR3-1600 DDR3 SDRAM (10-10-10-27 @ 761 MHz) (9-9-9-24 @ 685 MHz) (8-8-8-22 @ 609 MHz) (7-7-7-19 @ 533 MHz) (6-6-6-16 @ 457 MHz) x2(I have a post in the memory section where I have problems with this, it recognizes 8 but only uses 4, I see this in system properties and in the bios it only recognizes 4 and according to the motherboard specifications it accepts up to 16 gb of ram)
Graphics ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series (1024 MB) x2

I don't know if you will need any more data but I tell you without any problem :D. I say that basically the computer is used for games (battlefield3 when I can play of course xD, CoD, Crysis..etc) so I would like to know if there is a better motherboard than this one that would work well for me and if I can use the components I already have installed or if I can get more out of it and save myself the trouble of buying another one.

Greetings and thank you very much

        Hello

Well, normally, when gradually updating a computer, you don't usually buy a motherboard based on the components you have, but rather buy components based on the motherboard you have ? That's why it's called a "base" board.
But anyway, what you're trying to do is also viable, of course.

Although the board you have isn't bad in itself, it would be a good option to think about changing the platform, from 1156 to 1155, you would gain in performance.

If you want to keep updating all the components, you would have to renew the board and micro all at once, because reusing the micro you have means staying on the 1156 platform, and in the end you would only be changing the chassis of the car, the engine would still be the same, even if you replace it later with a better one. (which is totally acceptable and viable, but a platform change is better, I'm telling you)

Your computer isn't bad as it is, but if you're thinking about updating, I would change to a 1155 board with an i5 2500K or an i7, depending on your budget and future aspirations. This way you can take advantage of the rest of the components you have.

PD: It would be much better if you changed to LGA2011, it would be a huge expense but it would be noticeable, although given your tight budget, I've directly told you that the affordable option is 1155.

        Best regards

I doubt you need an LGA2011 and even less for gaming, the jump you could make would be to a Z68 motherboard an Ivy Bridge and a new nvidia 600 or ati 7000 graphics card. But as they are not for sale at the moment you have to wait.

+1 Bm4n, I would wait and make the jump to ivy bridge with z68 or p67 sandy, with that pc you can function more than enough for a while and save to change to said platform to a good pc.

my idea for the future, hopefully not too far away, is to upgrade to an i7, so I wanted to know about the motherboard, if I should get a new one, reuse the components I already have, and gradually change the processor, graphics… although I can probably hold off a bit, I'll probably buy everything together when I can afford it: processor and motherboard, then I'll get the graphics card or whatever I need ?

I've always had ASUS, from my first computer to this one, which is my third, but I was wondering if there's another brand or manufacturer, if you will, that's better than ASUS, or if I should just stick with this brand and improve on what I have now, of course.

Tell us what budget you would have, because for Ivy Bridge and the new graphics you're going to have to fork out a lot of money... €€€€

well I hope to have 300 to 400 euros at least for the motherboard although I might be able to get 450-500, that's not including the processor, but if something comes out for that price motherboard + processor then more or less that would be my budget

edit. for the graphics if at the moment I can hold on with the ones I have I would leave them for later but in principle I could count on that money too, but for much later

It seemed strange to me, so I said, wait a little for the new releases for Q2 2012 and upgrade your PC. Now you were going to notice little difference.

Asus is a brand among many, it won't give you better or worse results than the competition. What really matters is the type of card you buy, because within a brand and even within the same platform, they make all kinds of cards and depending on what you want it for (office work, gaming, overclocking, etc.).

I have a question about all this. Have you solved the RAM problem in the other thread you have open? Because if you have tried all the memory banks and you still get the same problem: it detects 8 but only uses 4, first I would get a little wet with everything related to hardware and as your partner says, be clear about what you are going to use the PC for: office work, games, overclocking, since this determines the form factor, components, etc. I am really curious to know what is really wrong, a screenshot of the bios would not be bad.
Good luck and wait for 2012.

The RAM problem is still the same, I can't guess what it might be. I read the motherboard specifications and it supports up to 16 GB so I am still in the same situation. I have been looking around the internet, some tutorial from people who have had the same problem and I have tried some things but we are still the same. The only thing I managed was to update the bios so that it marked 4 GB as usable instead of 3 with something (I think it was 3.90 or something like that)

I will wait for 2012 as I have to start collecting funds for the motherboard, processor, etc. I ask for advice more than anything because I can see many numbers and things that I say "wow this seems to be good…" but when it comes down to it it's not a big deal and as I don't know very well how to interpret them, I find it hard to know what is good for what I want or not.

Well if you tell me that you need to see from the bios I will put the picture in the other thread without problems, more than anything so as not to have to take a picture of all the bios options ?

                                    I really appreciate the help

edit: I forgot that I mostly use it for games, overclocking gives me a little respect ? but I would also like to learn how to do it properly

Una pregunta absurda, ¿puedes hacer una captura de pantalla en *C:* para ver qué carpetas aparecen? deberían aparecer dos carpetas de archivos de programa. Si haces la captura creo que me sacas de una duda muy obvia.

A technet and test what you were told before (load the minimum devices, etc.) because either a memory module is failing or something is not configured correctly. I assume the bios is with the parameters of the ram in manual, timings, etc.

I set the timings to manual and entered the manufacturer's settings 9 9 9 24 2N but even when on automatic it showed the same thing :S they were exactly the same. The only thing I can think of is taking a picture of the timings to see if I need to change something else, but as I looked at the data, the RAM was the same in the BIOS, even when on automatic.

I also tried changing the RAM positions and the PC wouldn't even start. pc.no I don't know if it's because the other two slots I have free don't work, plus a light that says RAM ok turned on, the light stays completely fixed and the PC does nothing.

I edit a question, on the motherboard there are some pins that say OV DRAM on top, I have the first pin free and the second and third are covered with a blue cap, what function does that have? I just tried the RAM separately and both are fine, I don't get any errors, it recognizes them separately

Here are the BIOS photos as well, I took pictures of everything I thought might be necessary to see if I have something wrong
