New motherboard, opinions!
-
I want to upgrade my pc, and I am thinking about buying this motherboard:
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+The processor in question would be an AMD FX Series FX-8120 8X
What do you think about this motherboard?

Bulldozer is only interesting for multi-tasking like compression and on rare occasions. Get a 1090T and save some euros or better yet go for a 2500K, if you don't want multiGPU you have great motherboards for less than 100€. Or if you can splash out a bit on a motherboard with an ASRock P67 Extreme4 GEN3 that with the new Ivy Bridge and 2 PCIe for SLI or Crossfire will give you a lot of gaming time.

well I think the same as obione, currently amd is not worth it. better a 2500k

well, I think the same as my colleagues

Thanks for your suggestions, but one more question…
If you don't recommend an AMD FX Series FX-8120 8X,(multitasking like compression); is it the same with an AMD FX Series FX-6100 6X?
I saw that it has a pretty cheap price "138 euros + iva".
Thanks!!! -
Not to take that idea out of your head, but in general, as your colleagues indicate, AMD is the micro to buy today, unless you want a cheap PC or for the tasks they indicate.

To buy or not to buy?
I think something got in the way
The optimal is a Sandy, 2500K or similar, as all your colleagues comment, AMD right now is far from the performance of Intel, they only improve in certain tasks and with certain applications, but they are very specific and particular things.

The entire FX series performs as if it had half the cores compared to Intel's Sandy. It's not a bad option for upgrading the CPU if you already have a motherboard or for some 3D modeling program, 2-phase video encoding, or simply if you're going to use it with its integrated graphics.

not to buy… My finger slipped

OK! you have convinced me, I choose a 2500K; what I see is that the motherboard goes a bit over my budget, I have seen this other "ASRock Z68 Pro3 Gen3", which is more or less 100 euros, what do you think?
Salu2!!! -
It's very good, and the ASRock P67 Pro3 B3 90-MXGGJ0-A0UAYZ Motherboard for 87€ is not bad either, it's similar but has a different chipset. The performance will still be very good in both cases.Best regards

Without wanting to be a burden :rollani:, I would like you to recommend, in addition to the Asrock Z68 Pro3 Gen3, one from the gigabyte brand and another from the Asus brand, so that I can compare and decide on one or the other, without the budget skyrocketing. Thank you for your help!!! -
