Can someone advise me on how to update my Core2Duo E8400 processor? I have never updated it and many times when I do a test on the can you run it it tells me that I should update my processor. I have gone to the Intel page but I don't see anything specific.

      Thanks

Are those tests to find out if a game will work for you or not? For that, it's better to download a demo if possible of the game or look at forums if people with a similar computer can run it. Because the graphics in general are more important for running a game than the micro.

Update... you mean changing the micro, I suppose. You have to remove the micro and put another one compatible with your motherboard. You can probably put a Quad Core in it. A new one will be expensive, so it's almost better to look for something second-hand, since the 775 platform is already outdated, although it's true that if you look at my signature, I have a Quad Core 775 and I'm delighted, but it's not worth buying a new micro, which will cost over 100€, when there are Quad Cores like mine that are sold for about 60€.

When I said update, I meant the software if it's possible, just like you update a motherboard (of course, it's a more complex piece).

I suppose what he is referring to is the message from some program like Everest, Sandra or Windows 7 itself that advises you to update the processor.

In that case, what they mean is that you change the micro for a more modern one... although that is your choice, if with the E8400 you have enough you don't have to update.

              Regards

You won't be able to update absolutely anything through software, unless you change your operating system to a higher one or change to more current drivers, which is not recommended if everything works correctly.
Through software, your processor will not obtain more power or better performance, as they tell you it would only happen if you replace the processor with a higher one.

                Greetings

PD: I'm glad to read you faliqui ?

The processor does not have a BIOS to update, it's like trying to update a quartz clock.

at most you could try to do some O.C to the micro. I suppose something like W7 has indicated that you update the micro but it's better not to pay much attention to those things because otherwise you'll spend your life updating the PC (a while ago W7 told me that it doesn't like the RAID 0 of my signature, it wants an SSD :D:D:D)
