Whatsapp messages

I would like to know if it is possible to send fake whatsapp messages in such a way that it appears that they have been sent from a contact in the address book even though this has not been the case. This has happened to me. They are threatening to report me for sending compromising messages when I have not done so and I do not know how this could have happened. They have sent me a printed copy and it appears that I am the one speaking but this has not been the case. It is as if they have impersonated my identity
I am very worried and I appreciate any help -
A priori it is not possible, since the Whatsapp account is linked to a phone number that confirms its veracity by replying to an SMS sent by Whatsapp. And it only allows one activation per number, that is to say that if you already have another account they cannot duplicate it.
On the other hand, if they have recently stolen your mobile or something it is possible that they have duplicated your SIM…but it is rare.
Contact the Whatsapp people to see what they say.Best regards

Just as there are methods to send SMS from other people's numbers, there are also methods to send WhatsApp messages from other people's numbers. Get informed and report it so that it can be investigated.

Check the security of your mobile phone.
If, for example, you leave the bluetooth open wide, they could use your mobile to make calls, send messages, etc …
Bye for now!

when you say that it seems like you sent them, is it your phone number or what appears as a name? because the name in the address book can be modified at any time without problems.
I also think I remember reading that it is possible to impersonate someone, I'm going to look for it to see if I can find it -
I hope you have already solved it, because if not…

That does not matter, because you can only have one whatsapp at a time with the same number. That is, even if you have 2 SIM cards, only 1 phone can be using that number for whatsapp.
If you have whatsapp, reinstall it and this way you make sure that your account has not been removed.
Anyway, I think it is what packo says, that they have changed the number in the address book.In case it is not whatsapp and it is SMS, there are a thousand ways to impersonate someone’s identity… and that is much easier xD

yes, because I lost my mobile once and I bought another one, I reinstalled WhatsApp and everything, and after a while I found the lost mobile, and even though I made a copy of the card, (the other one is canceled) I could use WhatsApp via Wi-Fi on the other number and the messages would arrive as if I sent them.. I don't know, if you block the mobile by IMEI and if that's possible, so be careful.. :frio: -
I doubt very much that it would be difficult to impersonate a WhatsApp account or similar because they are services where security is non-existent. And imitating or falsifying it is very, very easy, as easy as editing the program's records. And it can in no way be considered as evidence in a complaint, it would be more appropriate for some debate on Tele5, if someone wants to report you with that as proof, encourage them and perhaps you can get something out of them for slander.
