Hello everyone, I am the proud owner of a Logitech Z-5500, I know they are not a super HiFi equipment or anything like that, but I am not too knowledgeable in this world of speakers and the truth is that I enjoy the sound they give.
The problem is that 2 of the satellites have started to give me a annoying noise as if they had burned a little or something like that, I also do not know what could happen to them, but taking advantage of it I had thought about replacing them with more powerful ones or with better sound quality, and even with the speakers of the same brand but of better quality.
I wonder if the idea is viable and you recommend me a model or you tell me what you think.
These are the ones I have currently:

      http://www.tb-speaker.com/detail/1208_03/w3-593sf.htm

These ones that seem a little better:

And these ones that I have seen that maybe could replace them:

I would greatly appreciate knowing your opinion and if you have any recommendation, even better, thanks ?

That's 5", for a 5.1 or a 2.1 it's okay but it might be too big for that system and you won't move it well, as you won't be able to adjust the signal independently, you can mess it up.

Ask Logitech and they will tell you the specifications (frequency range, ohms, cone size, watts and dB's, the more you know the better).

Thanks, I'm trying to inform myself as much as I can, ;D.
I think it would be good to change them for some good 3" speakers like the ones I have, but I can't find any store in Spain where they sell them, one like this:

          http://www.parts-express.com/wizards/searchResults.cfm?searchFilter=&srchExt=CAT&perPage=100&sortBy=0&layout=LIST&page=1&srchPrice=&srchCat=576&srchMfg=&srchPromo=&srchAttr=

Do you know of any store that has speakers of this type?:)

          Thanks

You've put a link to redcoon in the first post, I bought a vinyl needle there at a pretty good price and my current speakers (KRK RP6 monitors), I looked at several competitors and it was the only one that had them for under 400€. For 50€ each plus shipping you have some Jamo 4":

            Jamo S 602 Negro · Altavoces de estanterias 2 vias | redcoon.es

This is starting to be a serious satellite, being that you're not exactly an audiophile, I don't think the Eltax 22€ 4" will clash with the Logitech satellites. You have them in that same category.

I recently had my Z-2300 satellites break, I put 2 Eltax Concept Mini replacing them and I am very very happy with the result, I have gained in sound quality and I can turn up the volume more without distorting ;D

Many thanks for the answers, I will take into account your recommendations, because the truth is I am a bit lost in this world, and the more I search the more I get lost jeje. ?
I will continue searching and if I find something that seems interesting to me I will post it to see what I think. A greeting

I suppose the Jamo S 602 will be quite better than the eltax, but is the price difference compensated by the power and quality of the eltax?

Another question, the Jamo S 602, according to their specifications are 6 ohms instead of 8, is there any problem? Can I use them or is it not recommended?:wall:

The amp of the Z-5500 I don't think will let you perceive more or less clearly the difference between the Eltax and the Jamo, besides that with a better amp there wouldn't be excessive difference either. What the Jamo will have much better than the Eltax are the basses, but that's not something that should worry you, since that's what the sub of the set is in charge of.

There should be no problem with 6 Ohm, in fact the satellites may be 6 Ohm. It is true that less Ohm gives more power and demands more from the amp but up to 6 it is rare that it messes it up.

Jamo are better speakers but the equipment would be unbalanced. If you do not plan to set up something decent later on, better the Eltax.

Let's hope it is balanced in power, CoUgSt does not have this problem because it can control the level of the sub and does not have other satellites.

Ok, thanks, so I'll write down the eltax. I had also thought about replacing the satellites with other 3" speakers but of higher quality and putting them in the same logitech box. Do you know any reliable store that sells speakers and this kind of material?
                          Thanks.;D

I have some z-5500 speakers that are half dead...

My central POD broke, and I made a makeshift connection to connect the amplifier directly to the PC's analog signal.

The bad thing is that when my POD broke, it also broke part of the amplifier... And they only work in 2.1 mode :'(. The speakers are fine, because I tested them in the channels of the amplifier that work and they work perfectly. What bad luck that my damn POD broke :wall:.

The cause was an electrical discharge, short circuit or something like that. When I opened the POD I found the analog-digital converter chip completely fried...

What I have done is connect 2 satellites in series, and the other two in series. And I connect it to a Pioneer amplifier that accepts 16ohm. It wouldn't be technically the most correct but it's the only way I have now to take advantage of these satellites.

If you are interested, I have the center speaker left over...

                            Regards!
