      @mjfm:

      Greetings, I have a problem: I can't access the BIOS of my Samsung RF510 laptop because of a password I set that I can't remember now (besides opening it and removing the battery, it's still under warranty). What can I do? Thanks. ?

      Well, I think you have no choice but to reset the BIOS somehow, and removing the battery is the most feasible...

      Greetings

        Pufff what a tough situation being under warranty, the truth is I don't know what to do, what a great idea to put a pass on the bios without writing it down…..what a mess I have....:cry:

          hello. if to remove the battery you have to open the casing, forget it because you will lose the warranty.
          if you have warranty, go to the service center.

            Well that's the problem, mate, and thanks for replying. First, it's my fault for not writing it down and saving it just in case, and then if I open the laptop, it will lose the warranty, etc. what do I do? do I call the Samsung service center? tomorrow Monday no? as I said, thanks :crying:

              Better that than nothing. Get in touch with them and explain what happened, see what solution they give you.
              Out of curiosity, what problem do you have with the BIOS? Is it vital for the laptop to work?

              Regards

                    To do this, you will have to leave it without power, this will erase the BIOS data, before the battery could be unplugged, now I don't know if some have it already soldered, the case would be to remove the battery and unplug the battery from the board for a minute, plug it back in and start up.

                    PD. You don't lose the warranty for disassembling the laptop, unless they put some "avoid" seal on it, but it's usually not because it's completely normal to change the RAM or the disk. So do it carefully but there's no problem.

                    The battery looks like this:

                    hlbm signature
                    ↳ Mis componentes

                                I'm not very clear on how to comment on this but... I mean, when you put a "key" you first think about what you're going to put, you don't just bang the keyboard "tun tun" you put a date, a name, usually something that's in your memory. My late grandfather used to say: "expect the worst and you'll be right", it's not a phrase I like very much, but... what prevents me from thinking that this laptop is either stolen or bought "from certain people"? BARE IN MIND THAT I DON'T DOUBT YOU BUT... I have some doubts.

                                    No no, you're wrong, it's my laptop that I'm still paying for. As for the password, it's the one I use and if there's any variation, I remember it, etc. I actually called Samsung and they practically don't answer and if they do, they give you the runaround and in the end, you have to take it to the technical service, which, after asking them, they don't even know about, so this is an abuse, regards.

                                    P.D. the password I entered is the one I use... and now it won't let me in unless there's some variation that I usually remember, not "tutun"...

                                      No no compi te equivocas es mi portatil que todavia lo estoy pagando en cuanto a la clave es la que utilizo y si hay alguna variación la recuerdo,etcc la verdad he llamado a samsung y practicamente no atienden y si atienden te torean y al final es llevarlo al servicio tecnico que despuesde preguntarles ni lo saben asi que esto es un abuso, saludos.

                                      PD. la clave la que meti es la que utilizo….y ahora no me deja entrar salvo alguna variante que suelo recordar no al tutun....

                                      prueba lo normal mayúsculas minúsculas etc, y si no como bien te dice bm4n desconectas la pila y la batería, que si para acceder a la pila no tienes que desmontar ningún precinto no pierdes la garantía.

                                      edito : otra opción que supongo que lógicamente no te dejara hacer ( pero puedes probar) es actualizar la bios ( que no deja de ser una ¿EPROM? ) y al actualizarla arrasara con todo lo que tendría la anterior.

                                        @Franziskaner:

                                        test the normal uppercase lowercase etc, and if not as bm4n says you disconnect the battery, which if you don't have to remove any seals to access the battery you don't lose the warranty.

                                        edit: another option that logically wouldn't let you do (but you can try) is to update the bios (which is nothing but a ¿EPROM?) and when you update it it will wipe everything that the previous one had.

                                        Ok thanks to everyone it's already solved do you know what the problem was??? well it turns out that I was entering the key with the numeric keypad and when my key on the top numeric keypad broke it already let me in so thanks to everyone.

                                        PD. I called the technical service (before I removed the bottom cover but it's armored only ram and hdd appear) and they said I would have to send it because they have to disassemble it completely and poke at the board, etc XDDD and I thought if a m…...........da they just want the euros nothing more I gave them a hard time, etc greetings as I said
