I'll tell you... they just gave me some computers that were going to be thrown away and I was able to make one of the two work but I'm missing the graphics (for now I'm using the integrated one)... what I've managed to put together is a Pentium IV 3.0GHZ, 2Gb Ram ddrII

My intention is to use it only to watch microhd 1080p movies on a 42'' TV that I'll connect to it via hdmi (graphics with hdmi or DVI output doesn't matter) and it won't be used EVER to play any games (I'm 28 years old and I've only played chess games on the computer in my life)... that said, I would like it to play online videos smoothly (youtube, allmyvideos and similar sites) in fullHD too and I think this will require more of the graphics than normal movies

and the most important thing is I DON'T HAVE A HARD DRIVE... so if I can spend 20 rather than 25, which do you think would be the minimum card for my purpose?

I hope to be able to watch some movies in 3D anaglyph on this TV that's not 3D but I suppose that once it plays fullHD there won't be a problem, right?

        Hello and welcome

The thing is that to move high quality movies you are going to need to expand the RAM factor, the processor factor and obviously the graphics factor (apart from a fast hard drive, which is also important when it comes to reading data)
What you require is somewhat complicated, a graphics card that performs well on a TV with high definition and large resolution without the micro and memory being too small and also at that price… difficult not to say impossible.
You can put a cheap graphics card to get by, but don't expect high quality on that screen.

        Regards

You sell the parts and buy yourself a player with HDMI output, style WD TV Live.

I think that with that micro you mentioned, you won't be able to play movies in Full HD. A few months ago I donated an AMD 939 3200+ to a friend with a Giga of Ram and an Nvidia 8400 GS graphics card, I think, and it couldn't play movies in Full HD, I don't know if it was because of the memory or the micro, but they weren't fluid.

A Pentium IV like a 2.8-3.0 is inferior to the AMD I put in my friend's computer.

I'm happy with that as long as the HD image doesn't jump around...I'm not a snob when it comes to full HD quality if it plays online I'm satisfied...but if the videos get cut off like the 1080p ones on YouTube do now with the built-in one then it's not worth putting any money into If I buy a player I won't be able to surf the internet from the sofa which I'm interested in of course

if I buy a player I could no longer browse the internet from the sofa which also interests me of course

There are also devices that allow browsing, like the LG Smarty.

Obvious test: ask a colleague for a PCI-e of a certain performance (not too bulky) and install it.

If it skips, you won't need to spend a dime.
If it works well, you can try the first one that was recommended to you in the thread

what is the low profile thing on a card? it says that on the ati5450 and it's not that it's not suitable for all pci-e slots and it has to be a special one

the thing is that I have no idea who might have one

I just saw this card that is even cheaper than the ATI 5450 HD that I was recommended above but of course I don't know if they are better or worse

Low profile means it's very "narrow" and small, but the slot must be standard pci-e.

The thing about finding someone who has it wasn't referring to the signature card, but any pci-e card that a friend of yours has... does none have one?

I already understood you but I'm not sure if anyone has one but I think not, it's more of a desktop computer only has one that I know of and the computer I don't even think it has PCI-e as it's old

Edit: of those three I put up could you tell me which one is better for what I want it for? is that I would like to go tomorrow to get it so I have it installed by the weekend and I think in the store they will try to sell me the one they need to sell

                                Hello and welcome

Well in the end I got the 5450 with 1gb ddr3 and the 1080p videos online don't work (720p if)… but the problem is that the flash player (even if it has the hardware acceleration option activated) doesn't use the card, almost nothing and uses all the micro which starts to work at 100% and then it cuts out as you told me, the RAM is at 50% of use and the graphics card even less when I play them so I think it's the micro that can't handle it anymore

as my budget is minimal I've seen a 5450 second-hand for 22 euros but it's 512mb ddrII, I think that being 512mb it doesn't matter but I don't know if there's much difference in it being ddr2 or ddr3... what do you think? if it's worth it I'll return the other one and with what's left I'll get a micro, if no one tells me I'm making a mistake, for the 775 socket second-hand

I've seen these two: (if there's much difference in performance I'll stretch and get the dual-core but if not the other one that goes all over my budget)

                                Intel Pentium Dual-Core E2160 1.8GHz/1M/800 LGA775 - 20 euros

The E2160 is much more micro, if your motherboard supports it, it's a good option to extend the life of that equipment.

I would make the effort to keep the new graphics card that will have a warranty, and get the x2.
