      Good morning.
I was wondering if you could recommend a good external hard drive. I don't mind if it's 2.5 or 3.5 (and I think it's better to go with 2.5 if it can also be used for a desktop), as I plan to partition it for Wii on half and Windows on the other half, on a desktop. I want to know if there's one that works well, because my current one, which has had about 5.6 good years, is complaining a lot. That is, when it transfers files, it makes a noise like it's struggling and sometimes it freezes during transfers.
It's a Seagate Barracuda 7200.10, and I asked about it here a while ago and ran some diagnostics and it improved a little, but it's back to its old ways.
      Best regards

P.S. I have a maximum budget of 100 euros, as I don't want to spend a fortune on a TB that I probably won't use.

What do you think about these two?

The best investment I made was €99 on a Samsung Story 3.5 2TB with USB 3.0
I can fill it up until I get bored (I still have 65% empty) and when I bought it I didn't have USB 3.0 on my computer, but after upgrading, I'm delighted, it's flying.
My maxim with hard drives is that the bigger the better, mostly because it's better to have more space before running out, and in my case I'm filling them up at a continuous rate.
Back in the day, around 2005, I invested a lot of money in an internal 200Gb one, the store laughed at me because they thought it was crazy… I didn't take a year to fill it up... nowadays I have more than 5 TB and I'll be expanding soon.
If it's for partitions, you never know how many things you'll want to install, the same as tomorrow you might start using a program or a game that takes up a significant amount of gigas... Better to be safe, although in your case with 1TB or 1'5TB I think it's enough.
My brands: Western Digital preferably. The Samsung isn't even a year old, so far it's going great, but I recommend the WD first because it already has a few years and it's still going great, it hasn't lost a bit of performance and it's been running for a ton of hours. It's a bit warm looking at it with CrystalDisk, because the casing is plastic and it doesn't really cool it, but not a single failure until today.

Of course, you're always solving my doubts.
So, it wouldn't matter if it's 2.5 or 3.5, right? Because the less space it takes, I suppose it's better, because you've told me about capacity but not about physical size.
What can you tell me about the two I put there? Mostly because for what they are, they seem cheap to me, although maybe I should look for one of 1 TB..
And I found 1 TB ones for about 30 euros more

          I've also seen this Seagate:

Because I think I prefer 2.5 ones. What do you think?

I am not going to recommend any to you, but I advise you to check the compatibility with the wii very well before deciding, lest you have a surprise and it does not work

What chispis says is true, I already thought that.
About the size from 3.5 to 2.5… well, I prefer the 3.5, maybe it's a mania, but anyway, the 2.5 also work very well as far as I know. However, it is always easier for a 2.5 to suffer some bumps because it is so manageable and all that, while the 3.5 you treat by default with more care because of the size and weight. But anyway, it's not objective, both are made with the same purpose ?
I already told you, the first Western Digital you put is like mine, the Elements, and I have very good results with it as I told you, from there the others you have looked at don't look bad, but I can't comment on my own experiences as with the Elements.

              Best regards!
