[Questions] GeForce GTX 550 Ti in SLI

Hello guys! First of all, I want to thank you in advance for all the help you can give me, because thanks to this forum you advised me on the purchase of my first and only pc ;D

The only exception is the graphics, which when I bought it they didn't have the one listed there and they put an evga gtx 550 ti.

My question is if I can buy now a Gigabyte Geforce Gtx 550 Ti 1gb Gddr5 Windforce Gigabyte GeForce GTX 550 TI 1GB GDDR5 Windforce : Graphics Cards Nvidia Pci Express : Componentes and peripherals Store and "unite" them or sli I think it's called in nvidia.
Can I with my motherboard? Won't my pc be underpowered? Will my power supply handle both? Do I need more ram?

Another thing, by uniting these graphics cards will I be able to play far cry 3, assassin III etc at the top?

Although it might work, nVIDIA recommends at least a 650W power supply for that SLI.

If I were you, I would try to sell that card, and get at least ~80€, to buy a GTX660 that are going for ~200€.

I agree, an SLI with cards that are half decent is usually not worth it. I would sell it and with the budget of the new one and a little more I would stretch for an Ati 7850 of 2 Gigas or an Nvidia 660 as the fellow indicates.

Oh man, what a cold day :frio:
It's going to blow my budget a bit but anyway… I've seen a couple of comparisons between the 660 and the 7850 and I think the 660 is slightly better so of the 660s available at pc components where I'm going to buy it, which one do you recommend? There are so many models and I'm getting confused xD

Just to take advantage of the post, I'd like to upgrade the ram a bit, maybe 4 gigs more, what do you recommend I buy?

If you don't run out of ram, you wouldn't expand it, although now it's at a good price. Does your board have free slots for ram or do you have to replace the ones you have? Check on your board manufacturer's website what ram it accepts in MHz, and with that you decide...

You can take advantage of the Zotac promotion, which gives you 5 years of warranty, if you register it on their website.

My motherboard is an ASUS P8P67 LE http://www.asus.es/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8P67_LE/#specifications I don't know where to look at the slots, the only thing I know is that I have 2 occupied (Corsair Value Select 4GB 2x2GB 1333Mhz CL9)

As for the zotac…I don't know, I was thinking of stretching a little more and getting the Ti, specifically this one: Zotac GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB GDDR5 250-1N280-P0000 Graphics Card How do you see it? Is it good? Will it give me enough to run the new games that come out?

Well, on the motherboard you can physically see if you have 4 or 2, if you have 2 you should change your memories for others, anyway take a look to see what maximum speed your motherboard reaches to get them, but I imagine that 1600 will not reach (unless you do OC)

Hello again! I have a couple more questions… I've been looking and I was thinking of getting this GTX 660 Ti graphics card Zotac GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB GDDR5 250-1N280-P0000 Graphics Card but then I saw this one on pccomponentes that's on promotion and it's much cheaper Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB GDDR5 11199-16-20G Graphics Card

I thought the 660ti was much better, but after seeing this comparison (which I don't understand, I just look at the longer bar xD) I'm not sure GeForce GTX 660 Ti vs Radeon HD 7870 – Performance Comparison Benchmarks @ Hardware Compare

What do you guys think??

Another topic, to take advantage of the post, is about the RAM, I have an ASUS P8P67 LE motherboard http://www.asus.es/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8P67_LE/#specifications with 2 RAM slots occupied with 2 gigabytes each… I've looked and it has 2 empty slots, there are 2 blue slots and 2 black... does that mean something?? Could I buy Corsair Value Select DDR3 1333 8GB 2x4GB CL9 CMV8GX3M2A1333C9 DDR3 Memory and put all 4 at once? That is, to have 12 gigabytes of total RAM?

I know it's a lot of questions, but I have to buy all that together to take advantage of the shipping and I'm all messed up and I don't want to mess it up and spend my money badly xD

The memos, you can't mix models (a matter of latencies and frequencies) it's ideal. It is. Always put the same brand and model, otherwise... everything is a problem
The colors are for marking A B, C D if you put them in single Chanel it is: the memos in A B. Or in C D, in dual Chanel it is A. C or B D

if it's the same model as you have if ;D and you will have 8 GB of memory, although depending on the use, 4 GB of ram is usually more than enough (my case, games and autocad), putting 8 GB seems normal when you build a computer from scratch and get a good deal, otherwise ….. :nono:

Well the truth is that the other day I was using, at work, Photoshop CS to resize several images (a few hundred xD) through a batch process, and wow there was a moment that it ate up 6GB of the 8Gb I have (an i5 that I have at work), luckily this didn't happen to me with the Core Duo I had before with 3GB of memory, hahaha…if not I would have died!!
The truth is that with 4GB it goes well today, but at certain times, or depending on what you do, you can regret not having more, Considering the price of memory today, 8GB are very cheap and accessible.
Another thing is that one is broke…so you can hold on with 4GB for a while.

as I say, for gaming and running AutoCAD with 4GB is enough, for certain applications NO and for professional use of AutoCAD not either, just as my micro and my GTX280 graphics card are not suitable, but for sporadic use yes. If the PC is for gaming, I would save the memory money to get an SSD. But remember, this is a personal opinion
