DVI monitor - PC connection

Hello, you see, I have an LG M227WDP-PZ monitor and an ATI HD4890GT graphics card, and I have a problem. Currently, they are connected via VGA cable, but I would like to connect them via DVI cable. The thing is, I don't understand why this connection doesn't work.

I have tried two different cables and I get the typical energy-saving message. I have tried both cables on other PCs and they work.

I deduce that the graphics card port can't be the problem because I only have the VGA cable connected with an adapter to the graphics card's DVI port.

Do you know what it could be?

Is it possible that you have set the monitor to output via VGA? Try changing the mode in case it is not in automatic scan.

I have some old computer around here and when I connect it to the monitor it doesn't detect it. In my case it's as simple as turning off the monitor, turning it on again and it detects the computer. If the monitor doesn't stay indicating that there is no signal, because it's just waiting for the DVI signal instead of VGA.

The graphics card has HDMI and DVI outputs, the monitor has VGA, HDMI, and DVI inputs

Currently, I have the monitor and the tower connected with a VGA cable that is connected to the card with an adapter to connect the VGA cable to the card's DVI port

The monitor is also a television, and if the remote has a button called "input" where you select the output you want, it shows that something is connected to the DVI port, but when I select it, it stays black with the power-saving box.

It's going to be the resolution's fault, that also happens to me on my 42-inch living room TV, which has resolutions that it doesn't support and therefore doesn't show anything on the screen.
