I would lower €100 on the motherboard, I would get the 3570k (unless you are going to do rendering) and I would put those €150 in the graphics card (GTX680 2GB).

I am a bit lost with this latency thing, is it better the lower the number (10-10-10-27) or the higher (11-11-11-31)? I say this because there are some that even with the highest number are more expensive…

CAS10 is faster than CAS 11, but on the Ivy Bridge platform it is silly to spend money on more aggressive latencies because the difference is minimal, it is more worthwhile to put together faster memory (DDR3 2400 C11) than slower and more aggressive memory (DDR3 1800 C9).

Another option would be to lower MHzs and get 16g.

16GB is already what you had put in, right?

I have not looked at prices, but I don't think we will reach €1700 with all this.

To be honest, I'm a bit hesitant to do what krampack suggests, more or less, but my doubt is whether it's worth spending the fortune on the gtx680, considering that in about half a year, the next generation of graphics cards will come out... that is: is it not more advisable to get a good motherboard and a good processor and spend a little less on graphics and then change it in a year or two, or set up SLI?

On the other hand, the brand Asrock (no matter how much you say it wins the OC contests) I understood it was the "bad" brand of asus, is that true or am I totally wrong??? Maybe it's just my paranoia, but looking at the photos of the two cards (AsRock Fatality Z77 and Asus Maxima V) I get the feeling that the Asus is all more "clean" and better finished...

About ASRock, the truth is that today they are at the forefront in performance with the new Intel platforms, especially with Ivy Bridge and its predecessor, Sandy Bridge. In the past, I'm not saying it wasn't a regular to poor brand, but right now it is at the forefront in motherboards.

about the graphics card :troll: well yes, they cost a fortune, but you enjoy it today, if you want you can wait for the 7xx series but think that after that the 8xx series will come out :ugly:
you can always get the 680 and in a few months sell it and put the money towards getting the 7xx series but honestly a mid/high range graphics card (more high than mid) can last you about three years easily (at least) my gtx 280 from 2008 has given me a lot of joy in five years, a 680 … I suppose the same and I don't think they will release a Crysis like the first one again ;D

what Krampak says, it's no longer from ASUS and sadly and not so rarely they are better than ASUS and cheaper
if you look, most users of this forum with recent equipment have ASROCK or GIGABYTE, in that order
and I personally ASUS is the brand I like the least, because in medium and low ranges they are somewhat weak
although in this case not for being high-end, which are the only decent ones from ASUS, for my taste price quality

Regarding the graphics card, I'm still not entirely sure if I should buy a gtx680, I know it will last longer than the gtx660 but there's at least a 100€ difference and with that money, in a year, year and a half, and another 100/150€, I could buy another mid-range graphics card (a gtx760 for example) or even another gtx660 and set them up in SLI.
Because 2 gtx660Ti would be equivalent to a gtx680 or a gtx690???

well, two 660Ti in SLI give a little more than a 680, between 20/25% more
and quite less than a 690 between 30/40%

Two 660ti are equivalent to more than a 680, anyway if you want Nvidia they are expensive, although depending on the model, the one that is cheapest is the Zotac and I'm not convinced by that dissipation for SLI and even less if the card doesn't have much separation between graphics.

Maybe a 670 would be better and since it's not long until new cards come out, you could buy another one later on sale, for 1080 you'll be able to play well although some games won't run at full speed, it will run with good graphics quality.

In two months I think there will be lots of second-hand 670s for sale and the new ones will also go down in price, the 660Ti although it has 2Gb of memory actually uses 1500mb, it's a bit of marketing the 2Gb thing, the 670 would use it since it has a 256-bit bus, in fact they should already start selling second-hand 670s given that it won't be long before the new series comes out.

another option if you have a graphics card is to wait a month or two, build the computer and put in graphics cards with the new series that should come out in March it seems.

To have 2 graphics cards attached, these models are usually better, although the 660Ti are also fresh but in SLI it will depend on the ventilation of the case.
