      Hello,

I currently have an asus g60jx

      Mobile QuadCore Intel Core i7-720QM, 1733 MHz (13 x 133)
NVIDIA GeForce GTS 360M video adapter (1024 MB)
      8 GB DDR3-1333 DDR3 SDRAM

I would like to change the processor that has become quite obsolete.

Is it complicated? Which one do you recommend?

      Thanks guys!

        Buenas,

        Actualmente tengo un asus g60jx

        Mobile QuadCore Intel Core i7-720QM, 1733 MHz (13 x 133)
Adaptador de video NVIDIA GeForce GTS 360M (1024 MB)
        8 GB DDR3-1333 DDR3 SDRAM

        saludos

By generation and socket the most you could hope for is an i7-840QM, and around here they say if it's worth it:

Personally I don't think it's worth it, but of course, I'm happy with my i3's :D.

I let him keep it, I think it's a good micro and if you think you need speed, maybe installing an SSD will open your eyes. A laptop, no matter how powerful it is, in my opinion today, is crippled with a mechanical hard drive.

3.5" mechanical hard drives are quite fast, not so much in 2.5". I would put an SSD on it and you would see how everything moved with much more ease. I say this from the experience of having handled laptops with an SSD, and I am clear that if I bought a laptop I would put an SSD on it without a doubt.

It's just that he's not interested because there are few better CPUs for that socket and spending almost 1000€ on a CPU is better to buy another laptop with a newer CPU, it's not worth complicating your life and the 740QM is only a little more powerful.

I'll stick with what I have then, if after almost three years with this laptop it's not worth updating the processor then I don't need it

                Thank you very much

Of course that processor is still pretty good for a laptop, if you wanted it for gaming then it's better to change the graphics, although that laptop seems to have a low resolution and that's why it doesn't need much graphics either, what you should do is put it on maximum performance, when you need the CPU to be faster and it will go to 2800mhz, here it's called extreme turbo, I don't think it will fall short, some like that still defend themselves very well on the desktop like the i5 750 or the famous i7 920, they are processors similar to that. here you can see how to put that turbo thing.
