Well, I actually finished it a few weeks ago, but I'll tell you my impression: It's a great game. It's not news that HL1 is a great game, and that the graphics in HL2 are amazing, not to mention the physics (the Source engine is a delight, for sure)... so that's not news either.
But anyway, you put both things together and add the selfless work of some fans who made it happen, and you end up with an excellent game. And I say game, because I don't consider it a mod, not at all.
It's true that the Xen levels are still missing, and it's a shame that it's incomplete (according to what I've read, they'll finish it by the end of this year). But really, if you haven't played it, you should because the spirit of the first HL is imprinted to the max, its recreation and its construction are super well taken care of, it's like going back to the Black Mesa labs that many of us visited in the late 90s

As a downside, the flashlight doesn't need to be recharged... but well, we'll forgive that.
Best regards!!
P.S.: I couldn't resist playing the two expansions of the original HL again... I'm getting so addicted!!!

Well I'm going to try it out to see how it is, it's been a long time since I played black mesa it will be cool to remember the old times.

You'll say that it's been a long time since you played HL1 :ugly: Black Mesa is the name of the remake of HL1 with the Source engine from HL2!!
Well, you're going to have a good time, really... and it's free on top of that :troll:
See you later!!

As for me  well, if I already told you, HL1 was also played out of pure boredom because back then I only installed it in a "pack" to play CS. But anyway, the ending was apoteosic, jumping between worlds... someday I'll get HL2.
-
The truth is that now that it can be played from Linux natively I have no excuse. Besides, I really want to get stuck into it and reminisce about the old days.

You're missing out on another great game!! Come on, dare to play HL2 with the Cinematic Mod ;D It's also good for episode 1 and 2.
There are always some packs of the saga at a good price on Steam at Christmas, Easter and summer…and some other specific moments. I don't remember how much they cost me but I spent little. At Christmas I remember HL2 was for less than 2 €.Cobito, indeed that push in Linux is one more excuse to encourage you to play Half Life

Best regards!!
-
I feel like playing them again, I wonder if I will get around to it, because I spent hours on them.
-
Wow, what a cool mod, so I'll take advantage of some offer of some pack of 2 and the eps, it's just that the last time valve did an offer what I got was portal 2
I'd like to play it on Linux but the team provided fortress and gave me errors a 3D library I fear it still has a lot ahead steam and the graphics with their native drivers. -
jURR I have portal 2 and I haven't finished it yet XD how many half-finished games do I have… on steam for sure there are HL offers if not what's the point I say XD
-
It's $13 for the pack, and separately $7 for hl, $6 for hl 2, and $5 for the episodes. I think it's expensive, portal came out free and portal 2 came out for 2 or 3€

They will probably release the same pack at half price during the Easter or summer sales. Anyway, I think it's many hours of fun and worth up to $13, but it's true that if there's no rush, it's better to buy them for half

Tecnho, go for Portal 2!! My coworker just finished it a few days ago and loved it. I also loved it when I played it and I feel like playing it again, lol... if it weren't for the huge list of pending games I have

Best regards!!

Sorry but the Cinematic Mod is maps, I'm a bit lost with the games.. or some mod for HL??
-
It is a Mod for HL2 and the EPs that improves the graphic aspect, sound and filters, and so much that it improves it, it changes almost everything but the story is the same.
-
Besides being free, which is something to be grateful for... because what a lot of hard work goes into it.
Greetings!!

An overwhelming effort considering that its development began in 2005 (7 years of work) and then "gave it away".
