      Hello

It was a monster in its time, but graphics don't last more than two years without becoming weak against the new games that come out. I recommend going for the graphics card that you put in the budget:

Gigabyte Radeon HD 7850 OC 2GB GDDR5 GV-R785OC-2GD Graphics Card

P.D.: About the duplication it is understandable. In the same thread of the equipment we can recommend you which components to reuse and which not.
About the bottleneck it is what Franziskaner says. It occurs when a graphics card is more powerful than the equipment that houses it, and the performance is affected by that difference in power. In your case you will have extra equipment and you will lack a graphics card, that is, the performance will be the maximum that this 8800gts can give and it will not even tickle your equipment, it could give you much more performance, it would be like wasting your equipment. This is why I recommend the 7850 (for example).

      Regards

it's possible that I would look at the two posts too quickly, but …..
I think the thing is as follows:
you want to upgrade equipment and as it comes out expensive you want to keep the 8800 GTS graphics, right?
it's very possible that after the Angelus I will miss something, but not that much ;D
I think that in the same branch you would be better off and clearer but to each their own.
about putting an old graphics card in a new computer ….. as I told you it's not very valid, it will work but at what resolutions do you want to play?
        regards

          Thanks to both of you,

What you deduce is exactly what I ask ?

the truth is that I play at 1680x1050 resolution I think :S

look, recently I sold my GTX 280 for 60 euros for your 8800 I think that as a doorstop it would give you 15 and stretching a lot. it's old, hot, asks for a lot of FA for an SLI what's good about it? NOTHING and I don't like to shout :wall: if you have no other option, go ahead, hold on to that 8800 but the result won't be good, I think any PB with integrated graphics will perform the same or more than that 8800 (which doesn't mean I recommend buying a PB with integrated graphics)
continue with the post about updating equipment and tomorrow you buy one:
            580 second-hand or a 660 or a 7770 new / second-hand something like that would be good and wouldn't be very expensive
            regards

As a power user, you can reuse the graphics card, I wouldn't be the one to tell you not to do it under any circumstances, as long as the goal is to save as soon as possible and buy a new graphics card as soon as you can, mainly because in the meantime you will have a decent computer to play almost everything on, but you won't be able to take full advantage of it because of the burden of the old graphics card.

              Regards

If you want to play, we will if you like to play a lot, keep saving. That graphics card for current games today will not be very sufficient for you. Another thing is that you are willing to play old games, then it will be fine for you. It was a good graphics card and it moved Crysis 1 very well, but a lot of time has passed since then, so that is my recommendation.

Another idea is to go for a second-hand graphics card of less than 100€. I don't know if your graphics card is the one with 320-640 megs or the later one with 512 that was more powerful. For the first one you can get 20-25€ out of it. For the second one about 30€, and with that and a little more you can buy something that at least doubles the power of your graphics card. Something second-hand that performs decent and doesn't go over price, an Ati 5870, I've seen them for less than 100€. Also a 6870. In Nvidia a 560 GTX, I've seen them for just over 100€.

I would keep saving, until I can buy something more decent and I would use the current equipment. That or you forget about the SSD and with what you can save more than what you get for your graphics card you get another one.

And it is fundamental to know the resolution. I play at 1280*1024 and with my equipment I am more than enough, but to play in Full HD many games would go wrong for me. To play in Full HD it is always better to buy a graphics card that goes a little beyond what you need. In the long run they all fall short, there always comes some game that is poorly optimized or demanding that asks for a lot of machine, and there are games that only go well with several graphics cards…

I just saw in another post that your graphics card is an 8800GTS with 256 megs... I don't know it. I thought that all were with 512 (or 320 - 640 but an older model). It must be a rare model, but I tell you that this graphics card with that memory today cannot work miracles. Maybe it is the 8800 GT model that came out with 256 megs, but if it is the GTS it is a funny model :frio:

                  Many thanks to everyone,

I have decided to renew the graphic also ?

amd125 to kill your curiosity, then I will put the exact model, maybe I am confused about something.

                  Regards, Ytri.

If you put in an nvidia I think you could use the 8800 for physics, and there you might get an improvement in games.
What is not known is how it will be to use ati+nvidia for physics. I don't think anyone here has tried it.

jdred was looking at something like that.

I don't want to spoil your mood, but a powerful graphics card would probably require a change of source…

By the way: What options do I have? ;D

If you are fine with your PC, but you want more frames, changing everything but the graphics will hardly make you go up frames, the graphics do what they can. If the graphics card were more powerful, your micro being a Dual Core would cause a bottleneck in games that require more cores, but otherwise, the 8800 GTS is not a gamer graphics card today.

The 8800 was a monster in its day and if you cook it right, it can last you a good season. Mine has been resurrected about 6 times :P:

                        Dead graphics? ? XFX 8800GTS 320 - HardLimit

Currently I play games like Left 4 Dead 2, Urban Terror, Prototype 2, SKYRIM, Assassins Creed (all of them), and the truth is that it has been doing very well. I have to play some games with medium quality because I am very demanding with FPS, I don't let go of even a single drop of FPS ;D.

Every time the games that come out are getting harder for it to run them, besides that 320Mb is getting small at high resolutions (I play at 1280x1024). There are graphics that are much cheaper than this 8800GTS in its day and they beat it in all aspects.

That said, remember that a good graphics card should be accompanied by a power supply that is up to the task. Don't just look at the Watts of the power supply, but the 12v line (if there is more than one, better) should have a minimum amperage of 30A.

Good luck in your search. I will keep using my 8800GTS until it burns in the oven!

                        Regards!

That is, remember that a good graphics card should be accompanied by a power supply to match. I'm not just talking about the Watts of the power supply, but that in the 12v line (if there is more than one better) there should be a minimum amperage of 30A.

Do you play SKYRIM with that graphics card? ;D

Well, you got a very good and resistant graphics card so you can play demanding games like SKYRIM.

But I totally agree. Nowadays there are economical graphics cards that do more than the 8800 GTS of 320 MB. In your place I would look to save a little more or forget about the SSD drive and go for that HD7850 of 2 GB that you mentioned.
