600 for sending only the pc?

Regarding your questions, absolutely nothing will happen to it, just worry about protecting it against shocks, and for the rest in the chargers and in the FA it indicates that the voltages supported are mostly those that support 110-220 (usa-euro) but there are still sources with a switch for manual selection (be careful with that) and you can find one that is only for one voltage (if that is the case sell it in usa or it will not be worth anything here).

      Have a good trip!

        Thanks for the reply Bm4n,

$600 seems like a lot or a little to you? Think that the case is a Corsair Obsidian 650D and it weighs a ton :ugly:

Then I look at the PSU papers to see if it can work well in the EU or if it has a manual voltage selector.
Now my problem is to find a suitable case to ship it or, failing that, to pay for it to be packaged somewhere.

        Best regards!

A lot of pasta, if it were something urgent... Mr Google gives me prices starting at 150€, take a good look at it.

Remember to remove the pci/pci-e cards and if the heatsink is not the original one too. It won't be the first board that arrives with the pci connector torn off or the heatsink hitting the board.
            Happy return.

I think more or less the same, maybe it would be safer to disassemble it than to send it assembled: it will go through many hands. And 600 "pesos" seems a bit expensive unless it includes insurance and the best service.
Come on, you're taking your time to come back. :osvaisacagar:

Thanks to everyone for the comments.

I just requested a quote from a company that works with the university and is a specialist in moving servers, apparently they make a custom package for the pc according to the size and fill it with expanding foam so that it doesn't move even a mm.

I will disassemble the GPU and the cooler and cross my fingers. I already know that $600 is expensive but since they are paying for the move it gives me a bit of a pass :ugly: Let's see what quote this company gives me that is smaller and seems more professional.

I have already bought the return ticket, on July 1st I land in Madrid and I will start looking for a house to have a flat in August and furnish it and settle in before starting to work (on September 1st). I will tell you how the PC story ends ;D

                Regards!

P.S: I was looking forward to the new adventure in my country, but seeing how the situation is over there and how the government (I don't care what color) is giving a shit to more and more ordinary workers, I think that in a year I will ask for a transfer to Switzerland <:(

I also vote for disassembling it and packing each piece separately, I would carry 15 backpacks full of bubble wrap if necessary!! :grinning:

I first sold it there and bought one here, the second one if you don't want it, sell at least the box and bring the rest XD look at UPS to see what rate they give you.

I used to carry the hard drives in my backpack with me on the plane
The rest, depending on the size of the case, you could even check it in if it's well packed
With everything well secured as others have mentioned, the graphics and the heatsink if they are large I would disassemble them… you know what suitcases go through on trips

                        Thanks for the comments.

I had already thought about selling it here, it's just that I got attached to it and I wanted to bring it home :ugly

Jokes aside, it's just that I don't know if I'll have the time to build another one there and it seems to me that everything is more expensive in Spain, but you're probably right. Let's see what budget the last company I asked gives me and based on that I decide.

Another option is to buy the parts at pc box or px components and have them assemble it for me and send it to my house (it's not advertising, they're the ones I've heard you mention from time to time), but I don't know if I can trust them and besides, at pc components they don't have the Corsair Obsidian 650D <:(

                        Regards!

Put the empty Obsidian in a suitcase big enough and inside the box you put clothes and other belongings, to take advantage of the space :ugly: :ugly: :ugly: :ugly:

Well, that's true, you're not sure about it.
Mystique has pointed out something important, hard drives are, after all, what really matters if you have to get rid of something. The rest, better or worse, is absolutely replaceable.
Putting ourselves in the case that in the end you decide on a new one, perhaps it is time to focus on the need to be easily transportable without having to enter the laptop range.
If you decide to send it by courier, as I said, dismantle the hard drives and remove everything you can carry with you in the suitcase with your underwear: fewer parts = less weight = less cost.
Regarding buying it here, well, this one I have now I bought it from the people in Murcia with assembly and tests and it took three days from when I completed the order (transfer the same morning) until I received it, and I must say that everything was perfect.
Flip a coin if you will.

Well, the truth is that you are all right

I don't take the case in my suitcase, I always travel light and what doesn't fit in my suitcase I check in, and what goes into the cabin goes to the salvation army, I'm not one for accumulating things XD

Since I still have 3 or 4 months before I leave, I'll think about it calmly (I want to keep playing Skyrim ?), maybe I'll put an ad on craiglist and if someone gives me $800 for pc+monitor I'll get rid of it and have one less problem.

I've been looking at the pc case components and they have a corsair series 600T that looks really good...XD

                              Best regards!

P.S: Whoololon, that was your 1001st post, binary appropriate :ugly:

I live in Madrid, in the Cuatro Caminos area, as I told you, not too far from where you're going to work, since your future company is on Castellana, near Cuatro Caminos ;D so if I can help you with anything when you arrive, just let me know, whether it's with the computer or anything else.

Regarding the computer, I understand that you get attached to it, but even if you like to travel light, I used to pack the power supply, memory, micro, motherboard, etc. in a hard case, everything well protected, and I sold the box there. In fact, for what the shipping will cost you, you can buy another one here. In the case of sending it, I would only send the box, the components would travel with them. Even in one of these carry-on suitcases, I think everything could fit well protected.

Regarding prices, Spain can be a bit more expensive, but if you bring components, you won't notice the extra cost as much. Besides, Amazon in Spain, for example, works very well and is getting better prices all the time. I've bought everything from there, from music headphones to a motherboard for an Amd FX, a mobile phone, photography books... so they work very well and have a great after-sales service.

And there are other online or physical stores that are not bad either, so I wouldn't worry too much.

                                  Many thanks amd125,

I just spoke with my new company and they told me that if I want I can buy a new pc there and put it in the moving bonus. In any case I take into account all your advice and in a couple of months I decide what to do.

I didn't know that Amazon worked so well in Spain, but I'm glad. I don't know if I can keep using my USA account or if I have to make a new one there.

                                  Greetings to all!

                                        Hello,

sorry for the delay in replying, I've been very busy lately. In the end I sold the pc for almost $1000 so I can't complain. I've already left uni and Boston, now I'm traveling around: I've been a week in Miami, now I'm in DC and next week I'm leaving for California. I have to take advantage of being in Madrid on July 1st to look for a flat

                                        Best regards!
