Well, you see, I'm starting to have serious doubts about how this chipset works in terms of disk raid, and since I don't really feel like doing an in-depth investigation, I'm going to post about it to see if anyone knows more about it.
It turns out that I've been using the manufacturer's raid0 for a while now, which isn't that great, and now I've set up another one with faster disks and it's not much better either, but the best part is that once I reached 175 in one of the update reboots and in the rest of the tests it's just as slow as the other raid of 2x250GB.
I mean, it's not just slow, but it always comes out in the test at around one hundred and thirty, and one day it goes and gives 175.
But the worst part isn't that, the worst part is that there's no way to boot the operating system with both raids, no matter how perfect everything is in the bios and the bios raid utility.
I don't know if I should doubt the resource allocation that this chipset does, as far as I know, sata and pcie share resources in some chipsets, and with the HD5850 that I installed, it might start to lack "bandwidth".
I don't know the truth, I'm a bit perplexed and not in the mood to get my head around it, opinions?...

We have a similar setup (mine is the PC2) and I can imagine (just to say something) that maybe those memos don't pull enough of the team, honestly I don't know if they will have a real influence or not on the raid boot, but beforehand it seems limiting to me, precisely because I also injected an HD 5850 Xtreme and with 3Gb and the consequent inoperability of the dual channel the poor one had quite a hard time booting fluid despite having a more or less decent disk.

On that aspect I recommend putting in a 2x2Gb, since then it has gone much better for me.

On another note, I suppose you will have the latest bios, some specific driver for the chipset, raid utilities, etc, etc… But if by chance you are missing something of that to look at, then go ahead with it.

The truth is that I currently have 4x1giga at 667 (the two new modules were 667 so salt and water hehe), and the graphics card from the beginning makes a boot where it tests the storage drives at least four times.

The latest bios, the latest drivers, in W7 you don't need drivers for the installation (nor are there any) in the raid utility everything is fine... I already tell you that it is something a bit strange.

The fact is that this chipset is no longer a topic of conversation, but at the time it was said that it was a bit weak, it was even said that it was a rehash of the already outdated nForce4.

What a pain man, I have to get things out of the old raid to dismantle it and with one of the disks get my father's computer up and running so that he can get used to it, and it seems that they will give sausages to the 4 things that I have to recover from the old raid.

          Regards.

Well the thing with the graphics card happens to me too! ? It's like it does several restarts in a row before booting up normally, it does it systematically, in my case it's exactly 7… Strange thing with the AM2 gigabytes and the HD 5850...

Yes, it's not exactly the best chipset that these boards have mounted, but well, if you already have all the outputs covered, then as they say, you have reached the top of your team's utilization, even though it's frustrating to say it...

Because apart from overclocking you haven't thought of trying anything, nor is there any hint of improvement, right?

I don't know what you mean by having all the exits covered, if you mean the sata ports there are only 4 disks, not 6.

Surely if the other raid that is not the boot one were mounted through OS there would be no problem, apparently they work better that way, but the one for the system has to be mounted in bios in order to be able to install it

No no, it was a way of talking about the covered exits, I meant the "possible solutions" already tried ?

One way to check if the loss of performance is due to the presence of the 5850 is to replace it with a very basic graphics card and calculate, apart from a routine defragmentation at the last minute, just to see results. As it is now that you have tried almost everything, there is not much to add as I said.

Anyway, from what I have read the Maxtor disks do not achieve great results in raid, so the controller and firmware will have a relevant role in this.

What faster disks do you say you have mounted now? I don't have that data...

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I haven't been online much.

The two drives in the new raid are nothing special, a seagate ST3500320AS that I had and a caviar blue WDC5000AAKX that came into my hands, both 500 gigabytes and different drives of course which I hadn't mentioned.

The thing is that I kept having problems, and it turned out that it was the seagate that kept failing. With that and the fact that the caviar was supposed to be suitable for home raid (and that it was much easier to get than the seagate 7200.11) I went out and got another caviar blue and now everything is working properly.
Afterwards I realized that I would have been better off buying a 128gb ssd for a little more :rollani:

No problem, I assumed you would be testing things ?

I'm glad it worked, I had suspicions that it would be more of a disk issue as I mentioned to you, although I had no idea what specific issue it was.
The "bad" controller obviously has its influence, but it's not normal for it to systematically drag down the performance and at times offer good results.

                    ¡Saludos!

They really didn't get along with the caviar and the barracuda… in the three raids I've mounted, I'm seeing that it's worth putting in the same disks.
