Hello!!
Taking a look at the forum sections, I think having "Laptops" and "Mobile Phones" is a bit redundant, I would leave both sections as "Smartphones and Other Laptops".
On the other hand, I miss a section for laptops and another one for HW failures that you don't know where to assign them, sometimes you have a failure and you don't know where to place it because you really don't know where it comes from, thus leaving the specific sections for the specific failures of those sections.
How do you see it?
Greetings, comrades!!

The idea of a section for breakdowns was already mentioned at the time, but it came to nothing, because many times they put it where it's not until trying to do it right, and we end up moving it ourselves :troll:
The idea of bringing together the sections for laptops and mobiles, well, I don't see the point, if even you yourself later talk about the need for a specific section for laptops, and besides, that's where they are putting the queries about tablets, raspberry and other things.
In summary, a stroke of luck!
Regards!

Let's see, right now there is no section for Laptops (And if they are inside Portable Dis., I don't see it very clear), the sections that exist I understand in this way (I could be wrong, mind!):
- Tablets, PDA's, PocketPC, MP3 Players = Portable Devices (Forum dedicated to portable devices (Pocket PC. PDA, MP3 players, etc.).)
- Mobile Telephony = Forum dedicated to mobile telephony in general.
This gives it a very "oldschool" touch :troll: to the forum haha, but honestly, PDA's pocketPC, MP3 players... are things that no one uses anymore and it seems like it hasn't been updated in a while, I propose something like this to make it clearer and more up to date:
- Portable Devices (Forum dedicated to portable devices (Smartphones, Tablets, SOC, GPS, iPods, Zune, etc...)
- Laptops = Forum dedicated to laptops and ultrabooks
I think it would be clearer and more organized! :fuckyea:
Regarding the issue of breakdowns, nothing to object :mudo:

Well, I know it's sticking my nose where it doesn't belong, but a laptop is a computer after all, right?
As you have done well, when you have a problem with it, you expose it in the subforum corresponding to the component that you think is failing.
In my opinion, and I'm sure I'm wrong, the subforum for portable devices was intended for tablets and similar devices, and smartphones in the mobile telephony one. -
Well, okay, maybe we should update the descriptions of some sections a bit so as not to scare the younger ones

Regarding changing the sections, I think having a mobile section where queries about advice on rates and mobile phones in general are placed, and keeping the Portable Devices section for all laptops and other smart devices, with the possibility of also including queries about mobile phones when they are more generic about topics valid for tablets and others, could be an easy solution for the whole family.
But, as they always say, where the boss rules, the sailor doesn't, and I say this about myself

Reporting to the thunder dome in 3, 2, 1 … :rollani:
Cheers!

Since we are here, I have long suggested lightening the dozens of forum sections to make it more readable. With hardware and oc, laptop, software and games it was more than enough, but now we have sections that have not been written in literally years. And it causes the few new topics to be scattered throughout 100 sections, in addition to leading to doubt about where to write.

Totally agree with Bm4n. Currently the forum is organized for a large size and activity, and it is not like that anymore, so it gives an image of desolation.
Another thing is the work it would take to reorganize the threads, which would not be trivial.

I understand that it is important to renew, and certainly the forum activity is not as high as it used to be, but the fact is that this place still attracts hardware enthusiasts, not just beginners asking like crazy (although it is a high index of current participation). What I mean is that the "depth" that the forum has makes it a site very rich in information, rather than scaring people, I think it should have an attractive effect, like a large amount of classified information, and let's not forget that it is the complete history of this community and its members, linearly ordered, I think it deserves its current order :sisi:
Another thing is that the existing sections can be grouped into other more general sections to have something like four or five large global sections, without varying the substructures of branches inside. It is an opinion, although I suspect that there must be work to be done to put it into practice...
Greetings!

I'm sorry to disagree but unless this becomes a hardware history forum it should be updated to a more modern model, this is an enthusiasts forum and it won't lose its charm by reordering it.

I don't think it's a bad idea to renovate it, change its image, abbreviate sections and include some within others, but I think the existing content should be kept, right? Even if it's in a more reduced structure, but all the content and contributions that have shaped the community are precisely the best endorsement for its appeal.

If that's what it's about, modifying sections. For example, having only one for PC games instead of subdividing it into categories as now. The threads of each subforum would be moved to the only one of games, but without deleting anything, of course.
And as I said, it would surely be a too laborious task depending on the subforums, but that's the idea.

Ah yes of course Sylver, I didn't mean to delete the content but to merge it into fewer sections, I hadn't understood you. Regards.
