Hello everyone, I'm setting up a new PC for a family member and this is what I came up with.

The use will be typical, office work, internet, HD videos, gaming...

The budget is a maximum of 1000 euros including monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers and as you can see it got a bit out of hand. From the previous equipment only a 1 TB hard drive will be reused.

I need your opinion on this configuration and where you would cut the price (the ssd is non-negotiable), I'm open to other configurations, even changing platforms since my experience with AMD has been good.

The store where the equipment will be purchased is this PCBuilder - Wipoid.com, in case you add any configuration.

      Regards

I would make the effort on peripherals (especially on the mouse), if you're going to use it a lot it's worth it. I would also try to improve the sound and the case, these are parts that will last you another platform; and in graphics at least 3GB (280 or higher). It's not the most compensated but I put you a GPU cucumber which is what you're going to notice the most and more capacity in SSD, if you put several games you eat more than 100GB, Crucial is a very serious manufacturer and you get a better price/mega.

If you're interested in having headphones for the moment I would go with a pair of Superlux 668b to get a 2.0 Edifier later for just under 100 euros. A 5.1 smelly truth is that does not convince me, if you want immersive above quality and you're going to place them more or less well then to your liking.

Editing: The Superlux are not in Xtremmedia, check it out in pccomponentes or Amazon.

Well, after looking and looking again, I would do without the keyboard and the sound system. I would get a different power supply, maybe not as good but of good quality and cheaper (750W, a Nox VX PFC or the Tacens IV from my signature). That would bring it down enough to leave it at 1K nailed... unless for that same price you change that 2 GB graphics card for a GigaByte GTX970 G1 WfOC. :troll:

Ah, and regarding building an AMD platform... no. Definitely... no.

Either you buy a GTX970, or you stick with the integrated one until it goes down in price, let's say in February.

To release now so much for a GTX770 is throwing money away.

If you were to make the graphics card investment starting in February, would you improve any components besides the ones mentioned?

Would the onboard graphics card run games from a few years ago?

The budget is very tight, seeing as it includes monitor, speakers and all, so allocating a third to the graphics, adding an SSD and an additional sound card, doesn't make it easier

The integrated graphics are on the processor, not on the board, but you also don't tell us what games you intend to play.

And the thing about adding an additional sound card, it's because …

I would stick to the budget, it's difficult but it can be done. The main problem with the configuration you presented is that this graphic card doesn't have the amount of VRAM that is recommended for current titles, and the price is quite high.

The integrated one can run "without too many problems" (note the quotation marks) practically all titles prior to 2012.
Regarding the improvement, as Obione says, the SSD, if you plan to put the OS, applications and games there, is going to be too small for you. From there, you know, everything is improvable, if you have the budget.

My opinion: better go for headphones and a normal keyboard and mouse, but regarding using integrated graphics until February or so… maybe it's better to delay the entire purchase until, with the 970, it comes out for €1000.

Edit:...and as Fassou points out, is the Xonar thing a whim?

The sound card thing is because the future owner is trying to be a dj :troll:, does music sessions and stuff… but I think that without a sound card I could do the same.

The idea is that the pc has the longest possible life in the future, if a high investment is made in the graphics card it is so that it moves current games quite well of course, with what you tell me the GTX 770 would be ruled out.

It would not be a big deal to delay the purchase for a month, as long as the performance was much better and the price lower.
