Hello everyone, as you can see, I have decided to opt for renewing the components of my equipment, so I have put up for sale the items from my brand, but well, I am not here to sell you anything, I just wanted to let you know.

What I am getting at is that I was thinking about changing the graphics card, which is a 780 ti, and I would like to have one with lower consumption and extreme power, I was looking at the gtx 980, but many say that the price it has right now is throwing money away since it doesn't justify having 10 fps more than the 970, however, many recommend that it is better to opt for the 970, what do you guys say? My idea is to play at 4k, but for that, I imagine that I will have to set up an SLI with one of the two cards, which brand and reference would you guys choose?

The idea is to upgrade to the Haswell platform and as you can see, I have decided to buy these memos, budget is not a problem, so I wanted to know if you recommend these, it is to pair them with an asus rampage v motherboard and an i7 5930k.

      Happy New Year to everyone!

      Regards

If you want a graphics card now, then the GTX970 without a doubt, and so when AMD and nVIDIA release their new little monsters with new memories and so on (we have the big network full of "leaks" of impressive performances of unknown cards), it won't hurt you as much to spend on a GTX980.

        Salu2!

        Intel i5 3570k / ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 / G.Skill F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL / Sapphire HD5850 / Samsung HD103UJ / TR TrueSpirit / NZXT Source 210 / OCZ ZS550W
        Intel i5 4570 / ASRock H87 Pro 4 / 2x G.Skill F3-14900CL8-4GBXM / Samsung 850 EVO 250Gb + ST1000DM003 + ST2000DM003 + HGST HDS723020BLA642 + Maxtor 6V250F0 / CM Seidon 240M / Zalman MS800 / CM MWE 550
        AMD Ryzen 7 1800X / B350 / 2x8GB Samsung DDR4-2400 CL17 / NVIDIA GTX 1070 8GB / SSD 120GB + ST4000DM004 + ST6000DM003 / EVGA Supernova 650 G2

Or in any case what I could also do is wait for the price to drop but I don't really know when they plan to release the gtx 980 ti also I've heard rumors that the next AMD graphics card will be beastly and even surpass the supposed 980 ti that hasn't even been released yet anyway they're rumors but okay.

The ones I'm liking the most at the moment would be the G1 from Gygabyte and as a second option I would have the EVGA version FTW which according to comments are very good and quiet, what scares me the most are the famous coil whine that apparently in some cards like MSI tend to have this inconvenience.

I agree with Fassou and I would also choose the 970 over the 980 (the 980 TI will be delayed as much as possible to not take market away from the 970). First for price/performance ratio and second for performance/price.
The squeak thing, that's the Chinese lottery you can get and it doesn't matter if it's MSI, Gigabyte, Asus...
And the fact that AMD is going to release a range of graphics cards that are going to be the best... well, seeing the trajectory they are on, it sounds like December 28th. :troll:

Another vote for the 970 GTX. The 980 GTX in my view is worth too much for what it offers compared to the 970 GTX. Selling your graphics card, the change shouldn't cost you much money, you'll get more power with less consumption and in the future, you'll be able to put another one in SLI if you're missing a girl, because 4K demands a lot of girls.

I wouldn't go crazy about upgrading to Haswell, you have a good computer and Haswell-E is very expensive, DDr4 has a low frequency and is problematic, the motherboards are quite green and it is better to wait until the refresh of X99, when another chipset comes out for the socket 2011-3 then we will see if it goes better, right now there are people who have already tested the Rampage V with more than one 5960X and in the end they prefer to stick with their Maximus VI extreme.
If you want to upgrade then put two 970s, your motherboard allows you to put them quite far apart, I wouldn't upgrade to Haswell-E right now having a socket 2011, I wouldn't even think about doing it from a 1150.

                Regards

But the gtx 970 is not that stable in 4k resolutions according to some benchmarks I've seen, at the moment the price of the g1 on amazon.com has had a $30 reduction although to me it's still expensive if we compare the gtx 970 in terms of price/performance.

Is anything known about amd's graphics cards when they would be released or to get some first looks at the r9 390X Bermuda graphics cards?

jajaj I understand fjavi you're right, regarding the graphics I'm not entirely convinced by a SLI of the gtx 970s to be able to play at 4k resolutions.

If you were to set up an SLI, whether it's the 970s or 980s, would you prefer the reference model? why? that's one of the biggest doubts I have, what would you do if you had to choose which one you would opt for, if it works it should work whether they are reference or not but the idea is to push it and get the best possible performance.

                      @gamingpy:

                      saludos
