Slightly bent processor pins
-
Good evening, it turns out that I have an AMD Atlhon 64 processor and I don't know how I did it, but the heatsink didn't fit well and the processor got stuck due to the thermal paste. The thing is that without realizing it and wanting to fit it, several pins on the processor have been bent and I don't know if it can be fixed in the sense that if after spending a good time straightening the prongs the processor would work well.
Can someone advise me on this?, Thank you -
Well, let's see.
The same socket can help you straighten the contacts (and a fine plastic ruler, I'm not a fan of a cutter). Once you can get it to fit, reassemble the heatsink and test it by turning on the computer (in this order).
If it doesn't give errors, everything will be a scare, if not, maybe one or more contacts have broken, which has a very bad solution (resoldering pins by hand is Chinese work). -
If they are not very worn out, you can bend them back with a lot of patience and precision using a flat and thin screwdriver, being very careful not to force too much, it is better that they remain in the approximate position and whole than perfect but broken. I have managed to do this with an Athlon 64 precisely.
Best regards!

Bueno, a ver.
The same socket can help you straighten the contacts again (and a thin plastic ruler, I'm not a fan of a cutter). Once you can get it to go in, reassemble the heatsink and test it by turning on the computer (in this order).
If it doesn't give errors, it will all be a scare, if not, maybe one or more contacts have broken, which has a very bad solution (resoldering pins by hand is Chinese work). Thanks for the advice, the only thing I'm afraid of is that I'll ruin the socket when trying to straighten it with this

You can also use a mechanical pencil similar to these:
It will make the process much easier for you.
P.D.: Out of curiosity, what processor is it? With Intel, all I can think of are the socket 478.
