Hello everyone. First of all, greetings to all those forum members who recognize me from the old guard (yes, yes, those from the days of Ngasis and the beginnings of modding). I hope that many of them are still fighting the good fight around here.

I'm writing to you to ask a question, especially to all those who play "little cars". My PC basically has an i5 4670K and a Gainward Phantom GTX 780 3GB.

I've put together a good cockpit setup after a lot of effort and buying things little by little, but I'm a bit fed up with the monitor situation. I only use the PC to play Assetto and Iracing, and we're talking about a large 50" Phillips Cinema 21:9 TV whose quality is amazing but I have the huge problem that I can't play at the native resolution of 2560x1080 like on PC. I've been investigating this issue for a long time and so far I've only managed to create a custom resolution with difficulty in the nVidia panel with that resolution and it only works under VGA, but after the last driver update for the graphics (I hadn't updated it since April 2014) there's no way to get it to work.

At Full HD resolutions, Windows looks amazing but the game is "stretched" and the cars look terrible, so my new intentions to get into the "posing" world and edit small videos have been completely ruined.

At the "clumsy" resolution of 2560x1080 when it works, Windows looks terrible, which I don't care about since I only have that PC for playing the simulator, but at least the games are displayed very well and I take advantage of a greater viewing angle from inside the car with those extra pixels.

In summary, although it hurts to part with it, I think I'm going to give the Phillips to a coworker and set up a triple monitor with 27".

Aspects to consider for those good Samaritans who want to give their opinion:

      • Budget: About 800€ in total. Besides, Zalem will lend me 190€ for the stand since the current one doesn't work for me.
      • I would like the smallest bezel possible (although if the image doesn't reach the edge and there's a 1cm black cut before the frame, I wouldn't like that either).
      • I don't care about matte or glossy. I can only say that I like saturated colors.
      • Important: My intentions are to get another 780 later from a second-hand source and set up an SLI but for now, whatever it is must move decently with that single 780 I have, so I'm not sure if those 27 with resolutions of 2560x1080 (or 1440) are out of the question.
      • I don't care if it's an obsolete monitor as long as it's worth it and the price compensates.
      • Of course, it must have VESA support.
      • Maybe I'm saying something stupid, but I wouldn't mind setting up a 27 and two 24 in vertical if that means buying better material at the same price, although I think that's not feasible with nVidia.

Just so you know, I don't have a clue but if I had to give you one, I would say:

Economic option: BenQ GW2760HS (¿VA panel for a simulator of "twisted" monitors?) 236€
Slightly better option: LG 27MP77HM-P 275€ or ASUS VN279Q

Give me a hand please, before the coworker at work gets cold and the possible sale of the Phillips falls through.

Thanks in advance to everyone (known and of course unknown!).

Well, the most logical and cheap thing would be to go back to the previous driver.
I don't follow the trend of updating the driver because the new one is better, first because it's not necessary and second because it's not true. They should be updated if they offer solutions to problems that one may have with certain applications.
As for triple monitor for a desktop it's fine, but having a mounted booth, I would go for projectors without hesitation. That said, in any case I would start by putting more graphic power.

Edit: In the nVidia control panel, in the "display - adjust the size and position of the desktop" section, there is the option to scale and/or cancel it.

Check if I would be so burned that I reinstall Windows completely because I was having some very rare problems with Assetto Corsa since the installation of the shurvision mod (a graphic mod dependent on sweefx).

In summary, I already told myself... I'm going to update. I don't think anything will happen and if I'm honest, I'm going to listen to you and I'm going to try to go back to the 337 I had... do you know where I can download them? How can I uninstall the current ones correctly?

It's something that has been on my mind, because honestly if I can keep playing at 2560 even if Windows looks like crap I pass on everything.

The retro thing was my first option but it's a hassle... 3 full HD, screen and software is a lot. And because I didn't like the frames that's why I got that Phillips. And now well I want more field of vision.

The nVidia panel I know it like the back of my hand. That's not where the problem lies. ;D
I'll tell you how things continue and I'm waiting for more opinions.

By the way, here's my setup:

Edit: I already found the 337.88

            You can download them from:
            http://www.nvidia.es/Download/Find.aspx?lang=es

GeForce 700 Series - Geforce GTX 780 - W7/64 bits (or your OS) - Spanish (Spain) - All

They range from 337.88 of 5/26/2014 to 355.60 of 8/13/2015

The slimmest bezels I've been able to find claim to be 4 mm, but then you find out that when you turn them on they have a black bezel, a dead zone, so that in the end you're left with a bezel of about 8 mm or more.
Even if you overlay them with art, you're going to have some divisions of about 1 cm.

Thanks... I went into I don't know what link from nVidia and only found up to December 2014, but then I found them.

As for the bezels, I know for a fact that the LG I put as an option has at least 6mm of black border until it reaches the edge because I've been told, so the option is no longer as interesting to me.
I even think that the LG 27MP67VQ-P which is 40€ cheaper than the one I put is the same panel and bezel (overall, it doesn't matter to me how nice the base is when it comes to hanging them up).

Let's see tomorrow morning if I can go back to the initial restore point of the newly installed Windows and I put in the 337.88 to be on the safe side.

I know for a fact that it's not necessary to use any driver uninstallers for nvidia for a long time now, but can you just uninstall and reinstall without any further ado to go back to a later version?

              Thanks in advance.

whoololon: In the end I went back to 337.88 and I managed to activate the 2560x1080 resolution correctly on the monitor. I had to change a little thing when configuring the timing options on the Phillips (I swear that before it didn't work because I had screenshots of everything saved safely as it worked before) but I managed it.

I don't want to sing victory yet because I managed it just before coming to work and until it doesn't work stably for a few days I don't want to say anything, but for now, until my friend buys the Phillips in September and I can get the 3 monitors, the vacation that starts today I can play to my heart's content ;D.

As for the monitors, I'm getting closer to getting the BenQ GW2760HS or the Iiyama XB2783HSU-B1.
