Compatibility of reinstalling Windows 7 and motherboards
-
Do not be alarmed by the message. It's something I've been testing for the past three days with several PCs I had at work.
For the sake of having a computer for each machine, whether it's a cutting plotter, printing, billing, design, and so on, I decided to change the computer I have the cutting plotter for another less powerful one, and take advantage of the amd 6800k for the PC that rips the images to the printing plotter.
The problem is when I change the HD of that equipment to the other one it doesn't work. It restarts. And yes, I know that's what should happen, but it doesn't.
I detail the issue with the PCs:6800k, asrock motherboard, 8gb ddr3 hd WD 500gb—> starts
xeon 5420, asrock 775 motherboards, 8gb dd3, wd 500gb--> starts
C2D 8400, Gigabyte X38DQ5, 4gb ddr2, wd 500gb--> starts
C2D 8400, Asus p5kle, 4gb ddr2, WD 500gb-->NO starts.
P4 945, asus p5dl2 deluxe, 4gb ddr2, wd 500gb, -->NO starts
idem pc p4 with a p4 640-- >no startsI can't do a clean install because I lose the program. It's one of those that you buy, but if you format the PC you have to go through the box again. It activates by key over the internet, and without a dongle. There's no way to crack it, which I would do because I've already bought it.
I cloned the disk, and just by plugging it into those computers it doesn't start. In the others it works without having to do system acrobatics like bootrec /fix and so on.
The question is if anyone else has had the same problem when moving an HD from one Asus motherboard to another. It's more out of curiosity than to know a solution, because from what I've seen the solution I have for now (I have the disk cloned 3 times) is to run it on any PC that does NOT have an Asus motherboard, but I'm amazed. If someone here has had to recover data and program to see the configuration of a PC and you didn't start it, you probably told the customer that with Win7 it's impossible to start on another PC that's not the same.take that brick

Almost always, when someone crashes a Windows when changing computers, it's usually because of disk controller drivers, but I don't know what would be different about such distinct platforms from the original for it to boot on some and not on others.
To change a hard drive to a very different platform, there's True Image Echo, although it's paid. I don't remember the process and the times I used it I did it in a cheap way so that it would just boot on the new computer and then I would install the drivers by hand, but I know that you can even attach the drivers of the new platform to the image so that it boots with all the hardware detected.

If we rule out another type of failure, check the BIOS in case you missed something.
Regarding the program, you surely haven't spent time on it… I remember they said the same thing about AlphaCAM back in the early 2000s... :rolleyes: -
I would dare to say that these PCs
C2D 8400, Asus p5kle, 4gb ddr2, WD 500gb —> DOES NOT START.
P4 945, asus p5dl2 deluxe, 4gb ddr2, wd 500gb, —> DOES NOT START
idem pc p4 with a p4 640 —> DOES NOT STARTare in IDE mode and the rest in AHCI
Enough for them not to start

I would venture to say that these PCs
C2D 8400, Asus p5kle, 4gb ddr2, WD 500gb—>WON'T BOOT.
P4 945, asus p5dl2 deluxe, 4gb ddr2, wd 500gb, -->WON'T BOOT
idem pc p4 with a p4 640—>WON'T BOOTare in IDE mode and the rest in AHCI
Enough to make them not boot
That was the first thing I thought, and I put the bios to default and it didn't work. On all the other motherboards it boots, and on the asus nothing at all.

I will try this way of cloning without drivers, to see if it works there, because I tried with a driver uninstaller and it didn't work.
We will continue to report.

In the asus … I think there was a memory function, memory map rellocation..
When I put XP I had to disable it... Check to see if in the first two that function is enabled...
Let's see if that's it -
NA, I tried namiga and nothing, and yorus worked on the asus boards, but the program's license died. So I'm back at square one :). But once I get it…

That surprises me, it's the first time I've seen it. If your hard drive crashes and you have to reinstall, do you have to pay for a fucking new license of the program? In most cases if you want to migrate from PC there is an uninstall key and then you can reinstall it without problems and if not, if the PC crashes and you can't use "uninstall" most companies will fix it if you tell them what happened.
