Toshiba's NAND division within reach of Western Digital.

According to the news from ExtremeTech, Toshiba might be forced to sell 20% of its NAND Flash memory division to WD, to cover the financial shortfall due to, putting it mildly, a very poor result in other areas of investment (which are detailed in the news and I won't reproduce as I think it's irrelevant).
That's the news.If we stop to think about it, WD already bought SanDisk to cover its need to compete in the NAND sector. What would it gain by buying Toshiba's division, apart from getting rid of another competitor?

I believe that Western Digital does not have its own factories apart from the one it shares with Toshiba in Japan (thanks to the purchase of Sandisk), so perhaps the incentive for Western Digital to become part of Toshiba's shareholding is to guarantee preferential treatment from the world's largest supplier of flash memory.
