"Memory Management" problem W10
-
Hello everyone
, I have a little problem with W10.Every now and then, and for no apparent reason, I get a blue screen with the message: "Memory Management".
I've been looking for info, and it seems like it could be a problem with the RAM. In fact, I've used the administrative tool "Windows Memory Diagnostic", and it says there are problems with the RAM, but of course... it doesn't specify which module is failing (supposedly).
The question is: Do I assume that I have a fried module, or could it be due to something else, for example an obsolete driver?
I ask because when I turn on a "USB piano" (M-Audio Keystation 61es), a couple of times Windows has told me that it has problems recognizing it. A couple of other quirks with this PC since I installed W10: It fried a 64GB SanDisk USB drive, and almost ruined an 8GB Kingston one.
If any of you have already dealt with the W10 "Memory Management" blue screen, any information on possible causes/solutions would be appreciated. Thank you very much.
Regards!!

@albridi When there is a memory problem, the PC may appear to have a failure in other hardware. If you do not know which module may be faulty, leave only one module plugged in and run the memory test one by one.

Hello @cobito, thanks for replying.
Ok, I will try one module at a time, to see if that helps. Which test do you think is "more reliable", the one from Windows administrative tools, or maybe MemTest86? Thanks.
Best regards!

@albridi Memtest is the most complete (and slow). I have never tried the Windows 10 test but if it is similar to the classic Windows Memory Diagnostics, it has always been effective and fast in detecting faults for me.
Memory tests are a statistical process in which you have to let the programs run for several hours to make sure that the problem is not with the memory. In fact, even if the tools for this purpose do not detect faults, it does not mean that the memory is free of problems.
If the Windows tool has already detected defects, I would continue to use that one.

Hello @cobito, in the end I used both tests, and both reported errors in the same module.
Once I removed it from the slot, the computer has stopped crashing, so I must assume that the aforementioned was responsible.
Thanks again.
Best regards!
