Hello I have this problem, I have a compaq presario CQ70 with windows vista, and I have the screen broken, I connect an external screen by Vga,
The external screen turns on when windows is loaded, but I do not have the possibility to enter the bios, I have looked at other forums and it works for them but in my case it does not even though I have uninstalled the laptop screen, but it remains the same, the screen only works when windows is loaded and I need to enter the bios to format and install windows 7.
Please is there something I can do to fix this Thank you.

Thanks for replying, I suppose you're right but I just don't know what to do with things like this when they still have a use, I have the old laptop but it works and I have the monitor and Windows, even if it's Vista, it runs pretty well and it's fine for saving things, the only thing I can't do is upgrade to 7 because I can't get into the BIOS. Is there any way, thanks.

By the way Fassou, this is another laptop that you are referring to, I already considered it exterminated a long time ago, I couldn't handle it.

It's the monitor's problem, it doesn't support native VGA resolution. Try with an older one.

              ...me lo dicen las voces...

Hello whoololon, thanks but I don't think it's the monitor, since it's even older than the laptop itself, it's a Philips one of those with a huge back, anyway I'll try with more monitors, but so far I haven't found a way and I've looked everywhere, well I'll keep looking, by the way... I ask.. can the S.O. Windows Vista influence the graphics card when starting the laptop??? Thanks.

I think the issue is that you configured the monitor (external) from Windows, as an additional screen.

But so that you can see the BIOS, that is, that the external monitor always works, you will have to use the keyboard shortcut, which in some is Fn + F2 (for yours it is better to put a photo of those keys, to see which one it is).

In some it has three states, one for the laptop monitor, another for the external one, and another in which they work simultaneously.

Of course, all this is usually explained in the laptop manual ?

                  Salu2!
