Hello, I know it's been a while since I posted anything in the forum. But recently I wanted to make a network, with Windows 10, and all my computers:

      1. Lenovo laptop
      2. HP laptop
      3. i7 desktop
      4. Q9550 desktop

And what I can't seem to achieve is that they all appear in the network manager. My idea is that from any PC, you can print to the printer. Assign each PC a folder or drive to share and that's it. But I can't get the i7 and Q9550 to appear, for example. The only difference they have is that the Q9550 is connected to a switch, which comes from the switch to which the i7's connection goes out. The problem is with the Public and Private Network issue, no matter what I set. There's nothing to be done, the i7 sees me on the Q9550 or vice versa, but not mutually. No.

      Thanks in advance

I don't have a PC handy but I'll leave you several tips:

        • All PCs must be within the same network, either manually or via DHCP (e.g. 192.168.1.3, 192.168.1.55...).

        • I have never used the homegroup, but classically another option is the workgroup, and they must all be in the same one.

        • File sharing must be enabled or the option to discover other network computers (I can't remember the exact name).

        • Watch out for antivirus software, sometimes it messes with access to network drives and you have to uninstall and reinstall, disabling it usually doesn't work. This has happened to me especially with Avast.

        • There must be the same user and password on the server PC as on the one connecting, unless you give access to everyone.

The issue is there. They are all in the same workgroup, and connected to the same router, and therefore they all receive the IP via DHCP, which is correct. The best part is that it lets me do PING between them and everything is perfect, but when it comes down to it, right now the i7 sees the q9550 and the laptop, and the Lenovo laptop only sees my father's PC, and the q9550 doesn't see any, it's very strange... And I don't use the homegroup because I don't like it. All the configuration is active. I'm left as you say to look at the avast that it may be the one that messes it up. I'll check tomorrow, thanks!

I haven't used the Homegroup either.

But 90% of the problems I've had are solved by looking in the Network and Sharing Center, Advanced Sharing Settings.
Make sure Network Discovery is turned on,

@namiga Thanks, but I have all of that enabled on all PCs, which is why I don't understand what's going on.

Try to see if you can connect to the computers through the ip, by writing directly in the browser bar the ip of the other computer, with double slash in front: \\\\192.168.1.23 p.ej.

By the way, the last windows update removes the home group, it has surely given more headaches than solutions.
