RASPBERRY PI 4 B
-
It seems that after years of listening to the prayers of many users, the Raspberry guys are finally going to release more worthy and battle-worthy hardware for version 4 of the same. They won't even make A versions (which used to be cheaper).
And the thing is mainly like this:
- RASPBERRY PI 4 B 1GB - 35€
- RASPBERRY PI 4 B 2GB - 45€
- RASPBERRY PI 4 B 4GB - 55€
It seems that they have updated, incorporating improvements such as a 4-core processor at 1.5Ghz (Cortex A72), graphics accelerator that supports 4K, USB Type-C power connection, BT 5.0...
At this point, if a Raspberry was already making its attempts with RECALBOX or RETROPIE to assemble your arcade console or rather (console hub) for power, it should be enough for all the emulators, given for example that N64 or PSP were short with the RAM or CPU speed.
Everything can be seen here:

I've read that the desktop performance is "similar to a low-end Intel CPU". The processor upgrade seems interesting, but what I like most is the USB 3.0. They just need to add Gigabit networking. And to close the circle, a SATA port from which the system can be booted. It would be a real alternative to the PC for some things. I might skip this model: I have 4 RPis and two are in the drawer (one is the 1 that is retired because it doesn't work for what I want). In reality, for the use I give them, I'm not going to take advantage of the new features of the 4; the 2 and the 3 are enough for now. -

If I'm not mistaken, it does have Gigabit network and not shared with the USB.

@yorus I just found out and it's also disconnected from the USB. Well, then it's the same thing, one might crash, I have a NAS there with an RPi2 and the network is always the big bottleneck.

To use it with Owncloud, for example, I see it as good. For serious NAS... not so much
Personally, I would set up the following (on separate Pis):
-Owncloud Nas for mobile backups
-Retropie for emulators
-Plex client (on Kodi??) to watch what I have on my NAS with the Plex server -
It seems that a new firmware has significantly lowered temperatures while maintaining performance. It's interesting to see how the PCB is used as a heatsink and in the end this update ends up affecting all components.
