PeerTube Instance Support Thread

This is the official support thread for the Hardlimit Peertube instance. If you have any suggestions, questions, or issues, this is the primary channel and the one through which you will receive the fastest response.

Note: If you need to share personal data such as your IP address or email address, use the Peertube contact form.

To reply to this thread, you must be registered on the forum. You can register here. The forum's data protection policy is the same as that of the Peertube instance: we do not share your email address with anyone, and it is used exclusively for administrative purposes within Hardlimit.

Notes

• On the first Sunday of each month, a RAID array integrity check is performed, lasting approximately 24 hours. During that day, uploads, playback, and live streams may run slower than usual.
• We have strict server access controls that may trigger false positives for suspicious activity, resulting in your IP being blocked. If you cannot access the instance from your internet connection but can from other locations, use the Peertube contact form and provide your public IP address.
• We usually provide several days' notice for maintenance tasks, but short maintenance windows of a few minutes may occasionally be performed without prior notice. If the instance has been down for a few minutes, it is likely due to one of these operations.

Known Issues.

• There is an issue with the federation of videos from other instances on Hardlimit. This is a platform-wide issue that has already been reported and will be fixed in the next version. If you are not receiving the latest videos from channels on other instances that you are subscribed to, unsubscribe from the channel and then resubscribe.
• A user reported on May 3rd that they experienced issues with their live stream. If you are having problems with live streams, reply to this thread with your internet service provider, geographic location, and the date and time so we can investigate the issue.

@cobito Good afternoon.

I've been following channels on your instance for a while now. Usually, I access them through my personal instance or my account on my personal Mastodon instance.

Up until now, I've never had any issues accessing your videos, commenting, sharing, etc., but today I can't access them from either my PeerTube (video.pcgaldo.com) or my Mastodon (mastodon.pcgaldo.com).

However, I have no issues accessing them from a secondary Mastodon account, and I can also access them without problems by visiting your instance directly.

I'm not sure if I've been blocked or if there's some other reason for this.

If you could, please take a look to see what might have happened and let me know if there's anything I need to do on my end to resolve the issue.

Hi @pcgaldo. The IP associated with both subdomains (the same for both) had been banned due to suspicious activity related to aggressive crawling.

It has already been removed from the blocklist. If it happens again, reply here and we'll check why it might be triggering.

@cobito As far as I know, I don't engage in aggressive tracking. Within the Fedi, it's just what PeerTube and Mastodon can do on their own.

Have you logged any anomalous activity from my server?

@pcgaldo is an automatic filter that sometimes triggers false positives. It's possible that requests from Mastodon and Peertube just happened to pile up and set it off.

I wouldn't worry about it if it doesn't happen again.
