Doubt with the ram

Hello, I would like to clarify a doubt about the dual channel topic. I have a Latitude D620 with 2 RAM modules of 1 Giga each. I want to remove one of them and replace it with one of 2 Gigas to have 3 Gigas. Will I have better performance with 2 modules of different capacities? Or will it be worse because of dual channel?

you will perform worse in speed. for dual channel, they have to be two of the same, so put 2 of 2 gb.regards

I prefer an old laptop with 3 Gigas of Ram even if it doesn't use the D. Channel. Another thing is that you try to buy two 4 Gigas modules. I've messed around with similar laptops from friends and for office work, movies etc. they still perform well so I encourage you to try to get 2 modules of 2 Gigas, but if you can't, personally I'd rather have 3 Gigas of Ram than 2 in Dual Channel, especially if you use Windows 7-8.
