Help with old laptop
-
Hello everyone, I have been given an old laptop that was dead, and I decided to disassemble it and checked that it had the power plug loose, I soldered it and now it turns on and I can enter the bios, it just says that it does not have an operating system.
I have looked on the net about this laptop but I have not found anything, the laptop is Smartbook ADL A360+.
The bios is PhoenixBios with a date of 2002.
Internal HDD 20004 MB
system memory 600 kb
extended memory 245729 kb
CPU type Pentium 111 TUALATIN
CPU speed 1133 Mhz.The laptop itself comes quite complete and assuming that the hard drive works I would like to install an operating system, but which one with these very limited requirements, I do not know which one I would have before or if it has one and it does not start, so I would like to format it and install an OS.
Who can advise me. Thank you. -
You could put an XP on it, but security would be a problem for anything online.
Another option is a lightweight linux, for example the Mint which in its latest version (V17 "Quiana") runs on 700Mhz machines with 512MB of RAM.
Salu2! and good luck with the project

By adding a bit more memory, almost any operating system could be installed

Well friends I've tried everything and I almost managed to install XP, I was getting to the end and it froze, from there I started again and it no longer formats for installation saying that the disk is damaged, and the truth is I don't know where I can get a disk like this, another question could I try installing MS-DOS and with the commands find out if it's the disk, Thanks again

well I already know, with the Windows XP disk and in the recovery console I ran chkdsk and it says that one or more unrecoverable problems.
Well if anyone has an idea of where I could get a hard drive. Thanks
