      Hello,

I am looking for components to build a new computer with a skylake processor. The computer needs to be small so I will get a mini ITX motherboard

For the use I am going to give it, I do not need a dedicated graphics card, so I will use the one integrated in the processor, the intel HD graphics 530 that is integrated in the skylake processors. As you may know, integrated graphics use part of the computer's RAM as memory for the integrated graphics

I have been researching and I have seen that the intel HD graphics 530 can use up to, if I am not mistaken, 1720 mb of the RAM as memory for the graphics and since I am going to use that graphics card, I would like to have all that memory available, the problem is that it depends on the motherboard manufacturer if they can use all that memory or a smaller amount

I have been looking and for example gigabyte only lets the integrated intel HD graphics 530 use 512 mb of the computer's RAM and in asus I have seen that it allows 1024 mb

Does anyone know of any motherboard brand that allows the integrated intel HD graphics 530 to use 1720 mb of the RAM?

A couple of months ago I was looking at asrock motherboards for example and if my memory does not fail me, I am pretty sure that in the specifications of these motherboards it said that 1720 mb of the RAM could be used for the graphics, however now I look at the specifications and it indicates that it is 1024mb, I do not understand why this has changed. Does anyone know if there is any error with this of asrock? I do not know if the erroneous data is the 1024 mb that it now marks or the 1720mb that it marked a couple of months ago

      Thanks in advance and greetings

Out of curiosity, why do you need so much graphics memory on an integrated GPU?

Really right now for nothing and I don't know if at some point I will ever need it, but since the computer is going to have more than enough ram, it seems like a good idea that the graphics can have the maximum possible memory in case I ever need it for something. That's why I'm looking for a miniITX card that allows me to do this

From my point of view, if you do it with a view to the future, don't worry about it. The day you need a gb and a bit of graphics memory, you will need a dedicated graphics card.

Anyway, let's see if any forum member can give you some light.

Edit: By the way, welcome to the forum.

I agree with cobito, personally I think the integrated ones are for when your dedicated one breaks, due to lack of budget, or when one believes they do not need a dedicated one.
That being said, in the integrated graphics we have dedicated memory, which if I'm not mistaken ranges from 36 MB to 512 MB and is set in the BIOS/UEFI, and shared, which is managed by the OS (on desktop computers).
In any case, no matter how much we share, it will still be DDR3/DDR4 memory, far from the performance of GDDR5 memory.
So, a makeshift solution for when the dedicated one breaks. :ugly:

I think you are confusing the integrated ones with AMD's APUs that do need a hefty memory allocation to squeeze the most out of them, but the integrated one on an I5 isn't going to do much more from 1024 on
