      Good morning,

I have a Medion Akoya 98418 laptop from a colleague who asks me if I can install W7 instead of W8. The problem is that I can't modify the boot sequence of the computer to start from USB because of the UEFI Bios. I would like to change to the Legacy mode of all life but after following several tutorials posted on youtube I have not been able to do it.

      Can you help me?

      Best regards!

PD: Don't get mad at me for not looking in the forum first ?

Hello!. Well, I won't be able to help you because I have no idea, but I was checking the forum from my mobile and I thought… but what the hell is going on with this that it shows me a thread from ZenPiPerS that will be from 2005 at least?, hehe. It was a pleasure to see you here and maybe they can help you out ;).

          Hello Yorus!
No, it's not a vBulletin bug...hehe... I needed help and what better place to ask than here :sisi: ;D
Regarding the topic of the thread, I've already solved it.
To do this, after accessing the UEFI Bios from W8: Change PC settings–>General-->Restart now--> Troubleshoot--> Advanced options--> UEFI firmware settings--> Restart I disabled UEFI mode in the Security Boot Magnamet section, activated the CMS Bios option (which is the same as Legacy) and now you can change the boot sequence.

          Best regards!

          P.D.: It's a pleasure to read you again around here… ?

            Greetings old friend ?

The surprising thing is that the UEFI did not have an option to boot in Legacy sequence as in the following image:

              Hello krampak! ?

I had that option but it only let me set the OS partition as the first option. It didn't respond to more configurations. After activating CSM mode, it did let me modify the sequence and even disable the indicated partition.

              Best regards!

It's curious because today I was messing around with an HP laptop and I had to touch those options so that it would let me boot the MemTest from CD and check the RAM. Now, I have no idea what CMS meant, but thanks to that it stopped activating the "Legacy" boot options.

The acronym CSM (Compatibility Support Module) refers to the compatibility support module, and responds to the emulation of traditional legacy bios.
New computers with W8 already come installed with UEFI mode (attending to the recent industry standards) which they sell as a security interface, although everything indicates that the only purpose is to avoid installing other operating systems or old devices.
I believe that during the installation of W8 it allows you to enable one mode or another.

                  A greeting!
