Motherboards that do not require OS reinstallation

well if you use the same installation for all the cards it will be more unstable than a one-legged chair

everyone will know what they are doing, but personally I avoid making a mess and I put the installations in order, doing things calmly and putting all their drivers updated.
After more than 3 years working with AMD socket AM3, FM1 and FM2 and different cards, I have not had a single stability problem, everything is more stable than Mr. Miyagi.

PD my system is on SSD that has already gone through more than 4 different cards with different sockets and chipsets (including laptops), and here it is.

I take advantage of the reflote to summarize, and within the limits of my understanding, try to clarify a few things.
We must not mix apples and oranges, and the title of the thread itself, even without intending it, tends to do so.
Changing the hardware does not imply the necessary reinstallation of an OS (there are no motherboards that require "per se" to reinstall, nor the others). In fact, it is the most normal thing and is limited to configuring the new driver environment. Now, as correctly indicated above, it is advisable to do so, especially if we are of those who like to be safe. It is a matter of preference.
To conclude, what really undermines the OS (and that has not changed in almost 20 years), is the continuous installation and uninstallation of various applications day after day. ;D

Ignoring the refloat, which is enough to take a license plate , as Bm4n said in his day, today it is difficult that moving a disk from one computer to another with different architectures and/or chipsets cannot start an already installed OS. However, that is still unorthodox, as well as a slight waste of time in a particular sense, since the system is progressively "getting dirty" over time, no matter how well it is taken care of with registry cleans, updates, file control and so on... It is something empirical. Let's say that maneuver is reserved for nostalgic people and for those who just the mental image of searching and installing drivers already gives them laziness (it has happened to all of us thousands of times).
The recommended thing is to take advantage of the change of platform/computer to install an OS from scratch, with the latest drivers, the updated programs and thus enjoy a lightweight computer. Let the one who has never noticed the difference throw the first stone ;D
Regards.

Do you want the ID card? What is that for?, yesterday I came in and saw this old post and added my experience since then, I read the rules more than 10 years ago, I don't remember any that said that a topic shouldn't be reposted, I don't come in often, but if we start with nonsense…

I've seen them older, but they're still only 2 years old ¬¬ and you're not exactly coming to contribute something wonderful and revolutionary or even just of useful interest, but rather to defend again your particular and unorthodox theory of reusing the same operating system many times over the years while changing the rest of the equipment… and you didn't even open the thread yourself to defend the refloat
Do you still want us to congratulate you? Or are you offended by a simple sentence that disapproves of your refloat?
If you contributed something of special interest based on coherence and not on the particular experience that pretends to go against everything common and recommendable, it's possible that I wouldn't have just shut up about the refloat comment, but I would have even thanked you for the contribution.Regards.

Arguing about something that is a matter of personal taste makes no sense, especially after a few years... I hate formatting and prefer to keep my OS even if I change hardware. But I understand that some people like to start from scratch because it's cleaner at first.
It's not better or worse, having a clean system is always important and there are those who do it with cleanliness and order and those who prefer backup and formatting.
