      @pak-rs4:

      Hello, recently a friend sold me an ASUS P5W DH Deluxe motherboard and yesterday I decided to try it with a core2 duo E4600, 1 gig of kingston ram, an nvidia 7500LE graphics card, and a generic 350W power supply.
      I had all of this mounted on an msi motherboard and it worked perfectly, but when I mounted it on this new motherboard I get no signal to the monitor and the cpu fan is gradually failing and in about a minute it stops working, but the graphics card keeps running.
      I have checked the capacitors on the motherboard and they all seem fine, the only thing that bothers me a little is that the power supply has 20 pin connections and the motherboard has 24, so there are 4 empty ones, could this be the problem?

      as far as I can tell, if it has to do with
      take your generic power supply and throw it in the trash and buy something a bit decent (generics often blow up (not always)) but the day it blows up it will cost you a new power supply and half the team :nono::nono:
      anyway, check the motherboard manual, some have a lot of "additional" connectors and others are connectors that are required (powered ones of course)

        @CNCBCN:

        hasta donde yo llego, si tiene que ver
        coge tu FA generica la tiras a la basura y compra te algo un poco decente ( la genéricas suelen petar ( no siempre)) pero el dia que pete te costara una fuente nueva mas medio equipo :nono::nono:
        detodos modos mira el manual de la placa, algunas tienes mucho conectores "adicionales " y otras son conectores Si o Si (alimentados se entiende )

        Muchas gracias por tu respuesta, pero le acabo de meter una corsair HX620 de mi otro equipo y tiene los mismos sintomas.
        Perdonad mi ignorancia pero debe emitir el pitido al arrancar aun sin el altavoz puesto? quiero decir, lleva integrado el altavoz?

          Either the motherboard is faulty, or you need to update the firmware for that micro to work ?

            If the motherboard had been used previously, the first thing you have to do is a clear CMOS.

            On the other hand, I don't think you can leave those 4 pins without power.

              I did the clear CMOS yesterday, and when powering the 24 pins, the CPU fan continues to fade and remains without signal. How can I update the firmware?

                Well, by firmware I meant bios. You have to download the application to update the bios from the official Asus page, then the latest bios they have released and install it. Although for that you will need an older micro because otherwise you won't be able to start Windows. If it still doesn't work even with another micro, that motherboard is broken.

                  I say that if I reset the bios, it will be more than enough (note: first check that your motherboard is compatible with your CPU (when it was released), otherwise you will have to update the bios, as they say)
                  my old asus croshair ii had power supply in 24 plus 8 but it could work in 24 plus 4, maybe if you look closely at the wiring of your FA you will find a cable that connects to the 20 and you will have a 24 left ;D

                    If the system shows no signs of life, it cannot update the BIOS.

                      That's what I thought, besides that micro is not new, it's even older than the motherboard, so with a bios reset it should recognize it (I think)
                      I repeat about the beep when starting up, it doesn't emit any, not even by removing the memory module, it should sound, right?

                        Have you located the speaker? Just in case I don't have one and that's why it doesn't beep

                          I asked above, the speaker didn't come in the box, but I don't know if it can be integrated.

                            it is usually a cylinder about 10 mm in diameter and about 10 mm long with two cables, one red and one black. what is to the right of the intel label (this is soldered) but there are also those that go with a connector.

                              Well, it doesn't have it integrated, I just tried another team's that works and it doesn't say anything.
                              I read about a user from hardh2o who had the same problem but with an e6800 extreme, and by resetting it several times he finally got it to boot, but I've reset it about 250 times and nothing... it boots up, everything starts up and immediately the cpu fan stops, but the graphics and hard drive keep running.:nono:

                                well, within the bad, you have it good ;D like how a "colleague" sold it to you (it reminds me of a certain little song "el coleguita" by LPR

                                ) you either meet at your house or his, and he starts it, and if he says you downloaded it yourself, then you yourself, you have multiple options :D:D the best would be to insert it via the rectal route, with a heat sink and all

                                but I suppose you will reach an agreement / solution without having to resort to violence.

                                  If true? hahaha!! The truth is that the solution I see is that, that he comes back home before Christmas! I was excited about the remote control and stuff but what can we do.

                                    Have you tried to disassemble everything, blow the connectors on the motherboard, clean the contacts on the RAM, graphics... with a cotton swab and alcohol and reassemble it? It wouldn't be the first time that a PC doesn't start up because of a bad contact on something.

                                        has probado a desmontar todo, soplar a los conectores de la placa, limpiar los contactos de ram, grafica… con un bastoncillo y alcohol y volver a montarlo? no seria la primera vez que por un mal contacto de algo no arranca un pc.

                                        No lo hice pero la grafica arrancaba y si el problema viniese de la ram tendria que emitir el tipico pitido continuo y no hacia absolutamente nada.

                                          I'm not sure if CoUgSt is right, but if he is, you would need an "old" micro to be able to update the bios, it surprises me a little but...

                                            Hombre sé de lo que hablo básicamente porque tuve una P5W-DH Deluxe. Y para instalar el E2160 me hizo falta actualizar la bios, ya que de serie no admite los micros con 200Mhz de FSB (como ese E4600).

                                            Otra cosa es que la placa esté jodida y aún con la bios actualizada no funcione, pero hasta que no la actualices o pruebes con otro micro anterior no sabremos eso 😉
