Well, as I mention in the thread about Yorus and his retro team, I've also got into the matter and I have in front of me a Pentium III Coppermine 700Mhz that I'm overclocking right now at about 933Mhz, my goal was to reach 1Ghz and leave it stable, but as soon as I reach 960Mhz it starts to fail, I don't know where the heck to touch the vcore, I've already looked everywhere including google :nono:
I have the memory synchronized at 133Mhz (3-6-8-3-3) after raising the fsb on the board by jumper from 100 to 133 by default.
I put a heatsink that I had lying around, like THIS
(a little taller than the one in the photo, the stock one was barely an inch tall, it was a dwarf…)

The temps are great, it doesn't go over 36º in full load, when it's stable... when I push it over 960Mhz as I say it doesn't boot, I think it's a matter of the vcore. Lowering the memory to 100 doesn't work either. The board is a QDI SynactIX 5EP and in the bios I have the CPU SpeedEasy option, which allows you to move the multiplier and the fsb (although in practice the multiplier is always fixed at 7, as in all PIII of the same type)

Any nostalgic one who can give me a hand or tell me if I'm stuck without reaching 1000Mhz ?

      Regards

A few months ago I tried to underclock a Geode to make an eMule PC and with the multiplier locked, the only thing I could modify was the FSB. Unexpectedly (due to my ignorance), the PC started to become unstable below a certain value, causing certain devices (like the network card) to behave erratically or simply not work.

If you are fiddling with FSB, you may have reached the limit of the integrated hardware.

uuh that reminds me that I still have my old coppermine at 933mhz, if I find a decent motherboard for it in some old pc I'll let you know how much it goes up when I put a lot of cold on it :frio:

            Thanks, mates!
It's probably that, because that's the main problem with the Coppermines, they always have the multi blocked and you can only increase the FSB, which puts more strain on the rest of the components.

I'll see if you can rescue it and tell me something, because I'm going crazy... plus, with the restarts, my hard drive has crashed (an 8Gb Fujitsu that I had rescued from the storage room for testing) and I have an added headache :hangover:
It runs well when it's cool, it has a cooler that blows 400 times faster than the stock one, I think I may have even gone too far, if at idle it was initially at about 26ºC without OC xD

            Regards
