Well, troops, they arrived yesterday but I've only tried them out now. I put on a Jazz CD by Joe Bonner (New Life, highly recommended if you like this style, classic but fresh).

      Below is the VerSus:

      • Integrated GA-P35-DS3L (line output, there is noise if configured as headphones)
      • S&M Pro Audio M-Patch 2 (modest preamp)
      • Plug & play USB card from the headphones themselves

      Verdict:

The integrated one is the loser by photofinish VS preamp (it should be noticeable more with high impedance headphones). I already knew it was a preamp to get out of a tight spot after reading about it and trying it with some Sennheiser HD-25s, which, while not the best in quality (they are designed to withstand everything and isolate like crazy), are pretty serious headphones.

The Sennhesiers haven't had a VS but I have connected them to good sound desks with quality preamps, and it was noticeable that the one from the M-Patch 2 studio controller wasn't up to par. This gadget is a passive monitor control (it doesn't alter the signal) with many possibilities for studio use and it has allowed me not only to control 2 signals but to have headphones with play in the few occasions when I couldn't bother anyone at home and to get rid of a noise when connecting PC + PS3. Now that I have the PS3 in the living room, it's not important to me, but well, I'd better not confuse you with this.

The USB converter is what will allow us to control volume and mute the microphone and it's the clear winner. Although it's worth investing in a good dedicated preamp or at least a good sound card that integrates it, if we take off the luxuries (although that doesn't fit with getting these headphones :ugly: ) and we want functionality, this converter is the gadget to use. I'm considering (but not much xD) getting an Asus STX to have a preamp and 64-bit drivers, something that fails in my Marian Trace Alpha card but I need good ASIO drivers for the audio sequencer, which I don't know how it will be with Asus, and besides, I wouldn't want to spend more money or lose the control + mute.

In short, expensive headphones that, if I'm not mistaken, are equivalent to DT 770 Premium 32 Ohm generous in low frequencies, very comfortable (they also isolate quite a bit) and that sound very good, but would sound better (at least for my taste) with a little less power in the bass. I didn't want so much quality in the microphone (I haven't tested this and I won't, I've just read about it) but I did want comfort and convenience.

The price was 268€ on Thomann.de. You know that I don't mind investing in sound, besides I take good care of my most precious belongings but, I don't like headphones. The reason for the purchase was the crappy Logitech USB microphone (there's nothing worse, what a sad gain for God's sake), the lack of comfort with the HD-25 and the VICIOUS (yes, with a capital V from the good xD) habits imminent in Guild Wars 2 where privacy and the need for proper communication have made me resort to headphones.

Recommended purchase? In my opinion, no. If you're even a little careful with your gadgets, don't be cheap and buy plastic headphones, in the gaming/computer world there are real absurdities with sound but, don't spend this much money.

To finish, I'll say that I don't control headphones + mic but I think there must be more interesting quality/price options and maybe it's worth investing in a pro 5.1 for shooters, although in my opinion a 5.1 should consist of satellites + sub and be properly placed, which incidentally is enjoyable with movies ?

Editing: I intended to make a quick comment with impressions but it turned into a brick :troll:

I'm not going to put specifications, unboxing photos and all that, if you want a review, google it ;D

      Regards, troops.

PD: If you're prone to ear fatigue, it's better to look for semi-open ones.

I'm not so sure about the idea that there are better headphones for shooters. I've tried many headphones, including several of the 5.1 ones you mentioned, and I wouldn't trade my MMX300 for any of them;D In my opinion, the only flaw that really bothers me is the ear pads that come with them when you buy them. They may be very comfortable and all that, but the gel ones sold by Beyerdynamic are miles better.

You are not the first one I read saying that better a good stereo than 5.1.

Phew I've been looking at some reviews on the Internet and they look good, but very expensive for me. I'm waiting to buy something, but I wouldn't like to spend more than 50€ to be honest, so I'll keep looking.

I have a very large surplus of foril help. If someone comes in to browse, that's fine, and if they're thinking of getting them, what better than looking for a review.

I looked at that one a while ago out of curiosity and recently because of the purchase. I didn't remember very well what they were saying, but they come to say the same thing as me.

Look how annoying you are :ffu: This is not a review, they are impressions with a little game trying out cards and preamp.

The only headphones with a mic I had were Sennheiser PC350s and I was really happy with the result for the price they cost me (if they already cost half of these, on top of that I bought them at a best buy and with the dollar to euro exchange rate, they still cost me less, I think I paid around 90 euros at the exchange rate.)

I don't have them anymore because my passion for gaming has decreased over the years and I already have a laptop that I use for skype etc to talk to the team.

So, if someone is looking for something more affordable, they can look at the current model (I think it's the PC360). They left me pretty happy.

Anyway, now I'm pretty happy with a pair of sennheiser hd 280 pro along with the Emu 0202.

now seriously, I thought the pc350 were closed and the 360 were open.

I regret the bad purchase of the Obione, it's a very expensive investment for something that turned out to be bad

I just bought on amazon some Plantronics GameCom 780 for just under $60. The reason is the same as yours, the addiction, because I want to hear where the bullets are coming from in BF3. The reviews I've read around are very good, I'll tell you how it goes, they arrive on Friday

                              regards!

It's not that I feel like I messed up, it's just that I haven't seen serious speakers at competitive prices and since I didn't have a card (and I couldn't bring myself to activate the integrated one xD) with 2 outputs or better yet preamp, nor a microphone, I had to go through the motions (USB, microphone...) and of course, when you leave 268 bucks on headphones, you want them to fit like a glove jajaja.
