[Problems] Acer Aspire 5755G
-
First of all, I wanted to say that I haven't found any section that fits better, since it's a laptop with the full configuration, and that's why I put it in this section.
It's an Acer Aspire 5755G, which according to them, has:
an i5-2450M 2.5 GHz, with turbo core up to 3.1, mine only up to 3.0, but that's not the case
an Nvidia GeForce GT 630M 2Gb vRAM
and 8G of ram.The thing is as follows:
if I play, WOW, LOL or NFS World with everything at maximum there's no problem, sometimes on the network, but that's because of the connection.
but if I play GTA IV when I press more than 2 keys at once or quickly change from one to another, the lag is terrible. At first I thought it was because it's RIP and I didn't give it importance but after a few days I got annoyed and downloaded the free version of 3DMark. The first 2 graphics tests pass without any problems or lag, maximum FPS 42, minimum 15.
But in the processor test everything is super lagged all the time, that is, it's a bottleneck.
I would like to know some solution other than taking everything out of the laptop, overclocking it and throwing it out the window -
Hello, the appropriate section would be the laptops section, because it is a problem with a laptop.
First of all, you have to understand that a laptop is not suitable for gaming like a desktop. So, it is normal that GTA IV gives you lag on that laptop, besides the fact that it is a game that:
1- Requires a lot of resources (a lot, a lot)
2- Is horribly designed (you need several patches to be able to play it correctly, even with low detail level, it is problematic in many ways)Regarding 3DMark, it is not normal for a laptop to give good results despite having that graphics card. The main problem with laptops is that they are very limited in terms of hardware.
The basic recommendations that can be applied to that small lack of performance are to update drivers and/or monitor temperatures, to control that the graphics card or the processor itself is not suffering too much, since in general terms it is not a problem that affects the operability of the laptop. If any freezing, blue screen, etc... appeared, then you would have to worry a little more.Regards

GTA4 by itself uses a lot of processor, so I don't think you'll have any problems, it just can't run it well. I have an i5-450m + 5470 and at 1366x768, everything at minimum and it's not playable at all.
Edit: I see that you have already been answered while I was writing

ok, what a stupid purchase I came up with this summer…
let's see if I can sneak it past my cousin..
Thanks for the info -
It's not a crappy purchase, it's a laptop, a mid-to-high range one at that, and laptops have never been or will be (or so history indicates) a good option when it comes to playing demanding games, that's all. For gaming, a desktop is always better, remember that.

ok, I'm trying to make one, but I can't decide on the processor XD

Yes, the other branch… Well, if you get the budget for an i7, no more, no less... But if you go just right, a big i5, you overclock it a bit and off you go.
(this information should go in the other branch, if you want to continue with the topic we talk there)Regards
