[Haswell] TSX instruction flaws detected
-
Bad news for LGA1150 platforms, with the discovery of problems in the implementation of the TSX instructions, introduced in the Haswell family, which will mean the deactivation of the same in the next BIOS updates.
"Intel® Transactional Synchronization Extensions New Instructions (Intel® TSX-NI) are a set of instructions focused on multi-threaded performance scaling. This technology helps make parallel operations more efficient via improved control of locks in software."
These instructions are so new that they are hardly used in any current software, but they represented another way of improvement for multi-thread environments, which it seems will have to be discarded for the time being, until perhaps another generation of processors.

The flaw has also been detected in the first Broadwells, which by the way may possibly be the platform chosen to upgrade me. On the other hand, for a few days now Intel has begun distributing the Broadwell-Y focused on ultrabooks and tablets and which may possibly be the cores affected by that flaw. -
Cachis… It reminds me of the problems Sandy had with SATA ports :nono:
On the other hand, isn't it true that Broadwell will be focused almost exclusively on tablets and ultrabooks? I hadn't read about their appearance in desktop computers.
Best regards

No, Broadwell are the successors to Haswell that will have a 14nm manufacturing process compared to their predecessor's 22nm.

In fact, the launch has been delayed by a year since, if I remember correctly, it was scheduled for the end of 2013 but for some reason they decided to postpone it.
EDITED: Here you have the news of the delay
