Help in choosing a new monitor
-
Hello everyone,
I recently sold my BenQ XL2411Z and I'm undecided about which monitor to buy to replace it. Let me give you a bit of background.
Before the BenQ, I had an Asus VX239H which I considered to have very good image quality, but of course, I tried a friend's 144hz monitor and fell in love with that fluidity in everything, games, desktop, etc...
As soon as I sold the Asus and got the BenQ XL2411Z, I missed the Asus's color quality and viewing angles, especially when doing office work, I didn't really notice it when gaming.
I tried to perform a color calibration and so on... but that TN panel couldn't do much in terms of colors.
In recent months, I've been getting more and more heated about this issue, to the point that it turned out well to sell the BenQ and now I'm undecided about which one to buy.According to what I've read, there are TN panels that look much better in terms of colors and such, for example this Asus MG248Q is rated very well, one of the best TN 144hz panels out there, but of course... selling a TN to go to another TN is a bit frustrating...
Then there's the option of VA panels, which improve on colors and angles over TNs, but these already skyrocket in price, although in this category one has just come out that I think is a safe bet, I believe, but of course, it costs 400€... I'm talking about the newly arrived Samsung C24FG70. VA panel and Quantum Dot technology, these give hope of having good image quality in a 144hz monitor, but the curved issue I don't know...
In short, I think my options are:
Asus MG248Q TN 335€
Viewsonic XG2401 TN 285€
Samsung C24FG70 VA Quantum dot 399€In short, I'm looking for a 144hz monitor, 24" fullhd and that doesn't limp in terms of colors, if it matches my old Asus IPS I'm fine with it. I use it for gaming / browsing / programming in equal parts.
What would you do? Any other option to add?
Regards!

If we want it all! gaming and color quality xD
About the Samsung C24FG70, I think you're interested in reading this
In my case, I still look at the GTG first so in the end I settle for almost anything

Salu2!

Considering that it's not an IPS, of the three I would choose the Asus.
Of the three, it's the one that will offer you the best color fidelity for being a TN. -

Yes, I already read it last night, but according to comments it was in the first units that had that defect that seems to be software, so through a firmware update it should be solved.
On the other hand, GTG and refresh rate are different things, the truth is that after using a 144hz going back to a 60/75hz becomes difficult...

Of the three, it is the one that will offer you the best color fidelity for being a TN.I don't know if you agree with me or not, but the main problem with TNs, more than color quality, is the viewing angles, and more so with the size of screens we use today. When we used 17"...21" it was still bearable, but with larger TN screens by the nose you always end up seeing them at a certain angle unless you are at a great distance and that greatly reduces the quality.
On the other hand, in many places they are starting to say that the new VA are better than IPS due to the depth that is achieved with blacks and that they do not deceive with more vivid colors than they really are.
So, taking into account the pros and cons, I finally decided on the Samsung due to its good VA panel and trusting that the small problems it has right now seem to be solvable by software.
As soon as it arrives, I will tell you how it is.
Best regards.
