Setting up an Android mobile phone for an elderly person
-
Hello!
These kings are going to get my father a new mobile phone. More than a necessity, it's something that he's going to like as a whim and I know that he will be able to handle it in a basic way.
The phone is a BQ Aquaris X5 bought on Amazon thanks to one of those bargains that abound on the net.
For him, the most important things are the battery and the photos. As for the battery, he is definitely going to lose out compared to the "non-smartphones" he has used so far, although the Nokia he used was already touch screen. As for the camera and how cool it is to handle a smartphone, he wins by a landslide.
He's going to have a short data plan, since it's a second line that Movistar "gives me", 200Mb, but my intention is that he uses Whatsapp or Telegram (it's what his children and I use), some app like Marca or Sofa Score for sports results, to call (obviously) and take photos.
What modifications/configurations do you recommend I make? He has no vision problems and he handled well a screen that didn't go much beyond 3" and this one is 5".
Best regards!

Xiaomi mobiles have a simplified menu option for older people, I don't know if there will be a menu of this style in the google store. It greatly reduces what you can do with the mobile, but avoids complications, and changes the interface to something similar to metro, which looks pretty good on mobiles.
It is an option that you can consider.
