Intel Cannonlake

It seems that Intel is stuck at 14nm. The generation that will succeed the uninspiring Kaby Lake will remain in the "optimization" stage of Intel's new development scheme. Source.
From Intel's side, they say this generation is more than 15% faster than its predecessor, so one could expect that the differences between Kaby Lake and Cannonlake will be more or less the same as those between Skylake and Kaby Lake. Source.
What a field day they are giving AMD.

@cobito it's a bit strange that they are stuck, recently they announced that the ARM 7nm are in process and will arrive next year, it seems strange that Intel does not have the necessary technology...
-
@Bm4n buddy, I doubt they don't have it...

The next step of integration is a lot of investment and risk and little benefit, so they will have to go for more cores like AMD does. When the hype of the Ryzen dies down, with the jokes about more cores, they will also admit that they are going down that path, either by putting ARM as companions, or with boards of several micros. We will see again equipment to which additional co-processors can be plugged in to improve certain performance ? -
In the business field, it seems they are thinking of using interposers (like what is used in graphics with HBM memory) to make micros larger than the grid limit (600 mm2)
You create four chips of 300 mm2, connect them with ultra-fast communication, and you have a beast for the business sector for which you can ask a fortune. Intel is pushing this, as it is one of the fastest growing sectors.
In the domestic field, I suppose they will wait until it is profitable to switch to 10nm, it should be remembered that 14nm is not always 14nm, Intel claims that its 14nm has a higher integration density than the supposed 10nm of Samsung and TSMC.

I'm not going to get into ultra-nerdy stuff, but still, each generation scratches something on the GPU and a moderate 10% on the micro. The 920 was a leap, the 2500K was an improvement, then they started capping the OC and taking advantage of the fucking i7 in more environments...
If time is money, spend today, if not, don't get worked up and enjoy, you don't need that much xD
