Overclock CPU --> Substantial improvement in FPS in PUBG
-
Hello fellow players,
Since many of us play PUBG, I wanted to explain the tests I did the other day, which are summarized in the title of the topic, mainly. It has been said a lot that PUBG is very poorly optimized, that even if you have very good hardware it is difficult to maintain 100fps and not to mention staying above it if you have a 144hz screen for example.
Indeed, optimization is a big point to improve, but despite what we often think, the problem lies in the CPU and not in the GPU.
To give you an idea, I have the same FPS with everything set to "VERY LOW" as with everything set to "HIGH" since the limiting factor is the CPU, something normal if we consider that it is an online game with so many players.Well, with my 4790K + 980ti, I had it with an undervolt at 4.2GHz since for most things it is more than enough, and with that I usually stayed between 70-100fps, so it was to raise it to 4.6GHz on all cores and automatically I went to an average of 90-135fps, an increase of about 20-30 fps just by overclocking the CPU.
So I encourage you to try it and comment on your results and, above all, do not have everything on "low" to gain FPS since if you have a decent graphics card it will be the same in low, medium and high.
Best regards!

@rul3s I also noticed when I compared the 2500k vs 8350k, in PUBG I noticed a huge difference, I can't tell you the numbers but I couldn't play in ultra (at 1920x1200) and with the CPU change I didn't go below 60fps.

But it's curious, that then you look at the CPU usage in the task manager, and I don't see at any time that it's at 100%.
So... if the CPU doesn't go to 100% but when doing OC it improves, the GPU isn't either because it gives me almost the same FPS in low, medium, high... So what is it that is limiting me from having more FPS?
It can't be the amount of RAM since it uses 8GB of the 16GB I have, unless it's the speed of my DDR3 at 1600 CL10....
I know it's a dream, but I would like to have stable 144fps for my 144 screen
