Intel Sunny Cove 10nm

Today Intel has presented a new architecture called Sunny Cove that will be released in 2019.

Finally, it seems that improvements focused on IPC are being presented, as was done in its day when Netburst was abandoned. In addition, it seems that important improvements are being introduced for general use tasks (they show an increase of 75% in the compression performance of 7-Zip thanks to the new Vector AES and SHA-NI instructions as seen in the following image):

The size of the buffers and main caches has also been increased and improvements have been made to the internal latencies of the processor, which should translate into an increase in performance in almost all scenarios.

Another presentation made today was that of the future integrated GPUs (Gen11), which also seem to be stepping up their game and giving a fight to the Ryzen, which today give the highest performance in iGPU. They talk about having surpassed the 1TFLOPS barrier (the Vega8 of the Ryzen 2200 have 1.2TFLOPS), 64 execution units compared to the current 24, an IPC twice as efficient and improvements in AI tasks.

In short, we will see if there is finally a substantial change between generations or if it is just marketing, the hype is served!

If all this is true (it remains to be seen) then this would be a worthy successor to my 4790k@4.6GHz

What really blew my mind was the heatsink.
If it weren't for the fact that ThermalTake Vulcano 11+ is no longer manufactured...

What I'm getting at is that "the wife of Caesar must not only be honorable, but also appear to be so"; and since they're splashing the cash, damn it, put together something flashy and as tacky as possible, with stickers of "Turbo", "Gaming", a RL of rigid and liquid phosphorescent tube... and leds, lots of leds.

It seems like they've sent me my K7 and they've put it there while on the screen you can see a loop video of a supposed benchmark...

I hope they step it up because it's necessary, but for now I'm just so happy with Ryzen!!
