I didn't know which section to put this in, so if you think it's appropriate, move it to the right place.
I'm starting this thread so we can chat about this topic, see if it's worth it, if a piece of hardware is suitable or not, if you're collaborating, etc...
In my case, I'm working remotely and I usually leave a couple of computers or three working on the topic, most of them running at half power. I'm contributing to a group called LaReunionSecreta, which was formed by Dr. Gaona, one of Iker Jimenez's collaborators.
I know this means an electrical consumption, but since I work in a small room, I'm saving myself the trouble of putting in the radiator, hehe.
Are you doing something similar?

I have a GTX 460OC with a TDP of 160W next to an i5-3570K of 77W. I understand that for these things it is important to have a relatively current GPU for a matter of getting the best performance per W. With my configuration, is it worth pushing the equipment? The truth is that I would like to participate, but I also don't want to be silly spending electricity to do something that a current PC achieves with a tenth of the consumption.

Those are the doubts I have as well, although I will continue to investigate. In my case, the most suitable computer is an i5-3570s of 65w and a GTX 750ti. According to the program itself, the micro gives me about 2410 points per day and the graphics 23629.
